UPC Cable - site survey - will they connect?

I was just looking into getting UPC hooked up in a house in Cork. It already has Sky, but, we're kind of interested in getting UPC for broadband, phone and possibly using it for an extra TV point.

The house is in a cabled area, but has never had cable hooked up. There is a burried main-line cable under the footpath outside the house, and it would require a run of about 20 meters (across the garden) to reach the house itself.

Do you think they'll agree to do a hook up ?

Alternatively, could we 'meet them half way' i.e. if we provide a run of the correct type of coax from the house to the boundry wall, and let them make a connection there, do you think it would be more feasible.

We're getting some building work done and I could quite easily arrange to get some of the correct type of coax, or a duct dropped into the garden.

There are no obsticles and it would be quite possible for them to run the cable over-ground along the boundry wall if necessary to access the house.

Anyone have any experience of this ?

Is there a chamber/manhole nearby you could dig too. Is all the area fed from an underground network. UPC do one off installs all the time but it comes at a cost not too sure the exact amount.
