To any users of the boss indiviual pedals, how do you manage your set up with more than 1 pedal? Maybe it's a pretty stoopid question but do you need to step off 1 before you step on another sound?

I have two different distortion pedals, when i have both on together the sound is muffled and horrible, it's a pain when going straight from one to the other by having to step on both simultaneously. Any thoughts?

Turn your foot sideways. Hit both switches at once.

I use a switchable loop pedal.... it's like an effects loop in a pedal so I can switch off everything at once. You can get pedals with multiple loops also.

A great solution, but a different problem. I think falterego wants to turn off one pedal and then immediately turn on another.

Actually, can't the Boss Line Selector switch between two loops in itself? Like using a crane to crush a fly, but still...

No, same thing. The boss line selector is another take on it and made on a production line.

I just press em both at same time...does the trick:pac: And havin two od pedals on at same time really takes away the punch..but unfortunately im forced to do it sometimes :(

Why not invest in a boss ME-50, or the newer boss ME-70, costs the same as a few individual boss pedals and you get like 25 pedals worth of effects. and because its boss the ME-50's effects are identical to the boss pedals it emulates.
Saves all the switching, I use one live and its the best peice of equipment I ever bought.

i used to do what you want to do a lot....my solution was the boss plastic pedal boxes (holds 6 pedals)...i thinks its called a bcb-6 or something....had a metal zone and a dd5 beside each other (one on one off)....because the pedals were stuck in the box the switching with one foot always worked....

your other option is to always have one pedal on (say your crunch overdrive sound) then adjust the other distortions eq and drive level so it doesnt sound muffled...just more powerful.....

The thing is though man, It costs more to buy that and 6 pedals then it does to get the boss multi effects - 50 or 70.

I would get an ME-50 over 6 pedals and a box anyday . you get 40+ pedals out of that.
22 Distortion pedals including the metalzone2 and blues driver 1 and 2. 11 modulation pedals, chorus, harmonist, flanger, phaser etc. A digital delay pedal with tap tempo, analog and all the ms settings. An expression pedal which doubles as a volume control pedal, does wah, resonance, voice, and pitch shift and some other less usefull effects. A reverb pedal, Compressor, Noisegate, and even a quick tone modifier nob. for around 300 euro. And all full COSM boss effects just like the actual pedals.

Only thing it's missing is a built in eq, (Which the ME-70 has) and an autowah feature, for lazy people like me.

i agree with you....if i had the money id get a gt-8 or an m-50......saves the brain frying effects equations when your are playing live.....(my pedal box has 3 empty spaces due to recession lol....so amateur :pac::pac::pac:

The GT-8 Rules all man, only prob is its a bit too complex, fragile, expensive and big to use live! I would love a GT-8 for studio and home recording. I
Just use the ME-50 at gigs, its relatively small, simple and made of good old fashioned steel! I would be too paro about having a gt-8 on stage, spill a pint over that and its goodnight!

I really don't see why people think using a whole pedal board live is an inconvenience. Sure, it's bigger and heavier, but surely the only important factor is the sounds. I don't know why anyone would want to compromise their comfortable home setup for a little more convenience.

And the Boss ME-50 and co. don't actually sound exactly the same as the effect in the individual pedals.

They might not be Identical but are just as effective if tweaked properly and used with a quality amp. My band mate has a rake of pedals in a case that he uses, there is very little difference in sound quality. His delay and reverb is better but the distortions are the same, and the Cosm amp modeling distortions on the ME-50 are great for getting an interesting sound, You can get a very good Brian may/Queen style tone out of it for a solo. Great Pedal if 80's style solo's are your thing, but if your into heavier metal like death or trash then there are better options. Can be lacking in the clean/jazz sound department I'll admit, but thats where a good amp comes in.

I would just be worried about damaging a boss GT-8 live, especially at venues with no stage, like a pub gig where you have people dancing. It's an expensive peice of kit and as I say, allot more fragile then the ME models.

I play alot of pub gigs where there is very little space, so the more compact and robust my rig the better!

If I was playing a big stage, like the music centre, then I would gladly use a pedal board as I know it's not gonna get wrecked.

They each have their advantages and disadvantages

GT-10 is great straight into a desk so no transporting of amps etc. Great presets and effects but if something goes wrong its a nightmare to dial it back in when your gigging

ME-70 Lacking the control on effects that individual effects but lots and lots of effects for an affordable price.

Single-effects overall nice sound of effects and worth it if you can afford it but also combursome to carry around. This is the road I take.
