Short answer yes they are perfectly legal and yes you can buy them here open season in nenagh are the distributors for henry lever action rifles.
They have them in .22lr .17 hmr and .22 mag and cost around 700 to 900 depending on the caliber and model you choose.

    +1,

Never really got the point of them. A standard bolt action is a more available gun in different makes and models. For something with a higher rate of fire a semi auto will do the trick. A lad i know has a Winchester lever action. He got it 16 years ago and met him last month and he still has it. Its no more accurate now than then but he loves it for the "buzz" of it. His words not mine.

I suppose if everyone was of the same taste opinion it would be a very boring world we live in.

My dislike of them comes from having one- it would shoot 2 or 3 shots ok then throw the next two wide- maybe the use of polymer tipped ammo in the lever guns has helped nowdays to give them better accuracy.

It'd definitely need an adapted bolt handle :D

Browning still makes new fullbore lever rifles swallowing modern ammo.

So do Rossi and Mossberg, don't know much about their quality but the should be pretty cheap

A Browning BLR in .243 will put you back about €1000. According to reviews in general it's not a high precision rifle but an extremely relaible workhorse and plenty accurate for normal hunting purposes.

i looked at a new winchester magnum, nice compact rifle

the only thing is the magazine is in the way of fitting a moderator and you cant buy too much subsonic ammo for it

the guy in the shop said the brno was the number 1 seller of entry level .22lr rifles at the moment

i need to do more thinking
