Can anyone recommend a good pair of bike shoes around the EUR 100 mark? And where is the best place to get them? Are online shops useful or should you really try on the shoes before buying them?

+1, definitely try before you buy. The fit between brands can be very different, even the fit between models from the same band can differ.

Most shops will only stock 2-3 brands so shop around so you get to try as many brands as possible.
