That looks linteresting a cross between The Prophecy and Constantine, the redband trailer is over 5 mins long though and shows the death of one of the main characters, spoils half the movie ffs, dont watch it!

Looks good indeed... with some patchy dialogue aside.

Looks absolutely awful if you ask me. It's cliche after cliche after cliche.

it looks like a good fun action movie.

Take your brain. Smash it to pieces and enjoy the movie.

Spotted this recently so apologies if this is old:
After a terrifying biblical apocalypse descends upon the world, a group of strangers stranded in a remote truck stop diner in the Southwest unwittingly become humanity's last line of defense when they discover the diner's young waitress is pregnant with the messiah.

Every new trailer or detail released about this film has lessened and lessened any hope I had for it.

Needs ACDC music to be complete.

Tis a pile of crap with a rubbish ending:(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

Was there a film before based in a cafe where it centres on gods decsion to end the world or not? Kinda low budget? Not an action film?

I'm hungover so maybe when I heard about this I thought it would be a good idea for a movie. I really don't know. :(

On topic: it looks daft but I will go see it.

The poster cracks me up, as if a tattooed angel with a badass pair of wings wasn't cool enough, they felt it necessary to give him a submachine gun & a knife.

Did you watch up to the
psycho ceiling granny bit? I couldn't stop laughing at it. Possibly it's meant to be spooky, however.

The attack on the diner is a lot better than what went before. Though I might be overrating it because when they're shooting guns it means the characters aren't spouting godawful dialogue.

In fact, you could just skip to that bit, watch it, then make up an ending in your head, and it would probably be a better experience. This film takes itself so seriously, when it's such utter fluff.

Ah its not that bad take out all the
    god and angels rubbish
and pretend they're all zombies :D. Can anyone answer me
what was so special about the baby? What I mean is, how come it being born would save mankind?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,406 ✭✭✭PirateShampoo

Seen a ad for this today on TV so i thought i would give it a look up.

Have to say it looks pretty good, well from a action fan point of view.

I enjoyed Constantin so i think il enjoy this.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21 TheCapedCrusade

I was also gonna have a look at it, but I became a bit unsure after it was getting 2 star reviews by magazines everywhere. But still, that scene where the granny goes on a freaker in the restaurant:)

The action sequences look good, I must say, so I'll check it out.

    im looking forward to this.

its got a kinda resident evil/underworld/outlander vibe going on.

i.e it'll get slagged big time by the critics but will be right up my street for popcorn munching nonsense.

only problem i have not is my local UCI is due to close in two weeks so i may not have a local to see it in :(

(dont worry theres another option for me, but i like their melted cheese and natchos combo and they STILL put butter on your popcorn)

    Found it kinda boring

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,013 ✭✭✭✭jaykhunter

any chance of merging all of the threads together so?

I thought the film was poor, but i enjoyed it enough. I'm a sucker for
people holding out in a small place against somthing crazy (like The Mist, or Zombie outbreaks etc)
. The trailer is awesome but the general quality of the story/dialogue/SFX wasn't anything impressive. Can't say i'd recommend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,330 ✭✭✭niallon

It's just an extended episode of Supernatural

In fact, there's an episode in Season Three, Jus In Bello that has a near identical plot.

Terrible movie. Probably one of the worst films Iv seen in a long time. Well a month or so anyway:)

    Done and done.

(this isn't aimed at you BTW) Don't you just hate it when people complain when a thread about a film has already been done and don't tell the moderators who can easily merge them? Seems counterproductive.

Bettany could make reading a phone directory seem interesting. Aside from him this movie has nothing going for it.

No.. it was aimed at me! :o

Apologies Galvasean.. I normally do report posts but must have forgotten.

Just watched it, and yeah its ****.

Shame the story line had potential.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,905 ✭✭✭✭Handsome Bob

Haven't seen it, but from what I gather from reviews, it's yet another film for Bettany to showcase his atheist beliefs. First he was the psycho murderous priest, then he was the dude who struck a significant blow to organised religion, now he's an angel who mutinys against a blood thirsty God. Do something else Bettany FFS!

Bettany is a better actor than this shíte, he keeps you interested in the plot
the ending is ridiculous, how do you survive a crash like that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,406 ✭✭✭PirateShampoo

If only that was the worst problem with the film.

Agreed, though he was quite good.

Went to see it on Saturday, found it decent though I normally like these things :)

Quite a poor film, very much a B-movie masquerading as a A-movie. However, the quality of acting is quite high, which makes it watchable rather than awful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,277 ✭✭✭evolutionqy7

    well thats ur taste...

I saw it today. I can appreciate what they were trying to do, it had the rough lay out for a good film, but it's just a mess. A total mess. The pacing is way off and it's difficult to decipher WTF Michael and Gabriel are going on about.
When Michael makes his "second coming" and defeats Gabriel, he says something along the lines of "You did what he asked, I did what he needed". Which means that, and correct me if I'm wrong, that what God "needed" was to see that there is still good in mankind.
However the ending of the film suggests that God still has his army after the child. So that means that God got "what he needed" (i.e. seen that mankind can still be good), yet he still hasn't called off his war on mankind. It doesn't make any sense.

As I said, it's a mess, but maybe I've misinterpreted the meaning of the film. I'm open to correction. :)

the show supernatural is way better

I saw this a few days and ago and I have to say it was better than I was expecting....which wasn't much. I love Paul Bettany, he doesn't really fulfill his potential here I think, but that's more the fault of the role than the actor...I thought it was quite enjoyable, at least up until the last twenty minutes or so when it all just seemed to fall apart and descend into utter farce. The scene with the granny in the diner however is priceless! The highlight of the film. I would say it's ....OK. Better than expected, kind of enjoyable for a bit of senseless, ridiculous entertainment, but no classic!
