Hi, does anybody have any views on these, i was considering purchasing 1. Id be doing about 20k 2 times a wk and 30k on a saturday. might do the 50k Sean Kelly tour also. Im sure it would be up to the job but would like the 2nd opinion.

Its more than up to it, if you find one at a good price get it but shop around for the best deal, you'll find plenty of reviews of the Giant ranges if you flick back through the thread pages

All of the Defy range seems to be scarce due to good reviews and the cycle-to-work demand. I'd check whether the 2.5 is actually available, or if you'll have to wait for the 2010 models to arrive.

The Defys seem to be excellent, looking at a Defy 1 myself.

Yes I have a Giant Defy 2.5, bought it last June mail order from Belfast. The bike performs very well with no problems whatsoever. I usually ride 50-60 km for leisure, 4-5 times a week, on quite rough surfaces (West Cork), but it is comfortable. The Tiagra shifters make a bit of rattling especially shifting in granny gear. Speaking of that, I probably wish I bought a compact rather than a triple but that's fine anyway.
