Dublin Bus Fuel Usage

Does DB (or BE) have any fuel usage targets, ie are there specific MPG (or other) targets.

The company I work for own a large fleet of trucks and have a target MPG to be reached by every driver on a weekly/ monthly basis. If they don't attain it they are sent for (re)training and if continue to fail more action is taken as required.

I know a trucking co is different from DB whose No.1 priority is should be customer service but with a fleet of ~800 still active vehicles surely such targets would be practical.

Even a 1% eficiency improvement would yield massive fuels savings for a company that size.

If they don't why not? Useless mgt, unions who would block it, just never considered.

What does a bus get in MPG, 6-8?

Its tough on a city bus driver to drive very efficently.

    But to help:

    - better bus lanes allowing buses to move more freely. I still consider existing bus lanes to be largely token gestures.

    - removing ridicululosly close bus stops.

    - review routes and make them faster and more direct. The public should be expected to make some effort in walking to a bus stop.

They've undergone energy efficiency training recently relating to the depots and also running the fleet.
The guy who was giving the training specialises in fleet efficiency.

Some are some aren't. There's no denying the N11 corridor isin't a big success for instance

Yeah this is a big problem in some places. 500m or less between is ridiculous

They should but won't do it. If the bus is not hugely easy to get to and from a lot will just drive, especially off peak.
