The U21 Hurling semis are coming up on Saturday 22 August.

The Clare team that has busted out of Munster for the first time ever is heading accross to Thurles to take on a classy Galway side.

Antrim are entertaining the Cats in Parnell Park.

Who would people have as favourites for this one?

I cannot for the life of me understand how Clare are as big as 6/1 to win the AI its madness, I have actually seen Galway in a practice match recently and they looked decidedly ordinary and for my money Joe Canning is no where near fit, so for me its got to be a KK -Clare AI, my only fear for Clare is that they put so much emphasis on winning munster for the first time that they ease off and think they have achieved what they set out to.

I think most lazy punters would prob put money on Galway because they have Canning which is prob why Clare have such long odds. I'd fancy Clare myself, aslong as they can rectify their faults in their full back line.

In fairness to the Clare FB line while they looked very shakey early on in the munster final they were very impressive in the second half and they were very solid against Limerick in the semi aswell

Clare wont mind all the focus being on Galway and as mentioned Canning.

FB line had a bad start but really need to hit the ground running and that will lift all the team.

Point taken. The full back was immense in the second half of the Munster final however if Waterford had taken their chances in the first ten minutes of the game they would have been out of sight. IIRC they had four clear goal chances and only scored one in that period. Joe Canning wont be quite so kind if given those opportunities

The Clare team looked vunerable to goals for much of the match but particularly for the last 10 minutes held the line incredibly well. I wonder as well if Canning can blow a bit hot and cold on the motivational front sometimes. Still I can see why Galway are favourites on paper and there will be alot of the energy of the senior team leaving it after them against Waterford coming into this game.

As a Banner man in Galway the old wagons are beginning to circle this week as the women fell at the weekend and the minors reached the final Tribesmen are turning to Saturday with determination. Have to say that I was happy enough with the Munster after waiting so long but given a couple of the digs I've been gettin' in the last few days I'd love it if the lads could soften their cough for them!

I would think you would have to make Clare favourites. They have come through a hard Munster campaign, they know their best combinations by now and are battle hardened. With Galway you never know until they tog out. They could be brilliant or miles off the pace. Even Galway lads wouldn't know how they'll go on the day. That said you don't often see poor Galway underage sides. Even their poorer teams are often decent enough by most other counties standards.
