HP Battery (Compaq Presario V6000)

    Hi,

    I want to replace my laptop battery. I tried freezing the batter but with little success. I have now turned to eBay, hoping to pick up something relatively cheap. When I went on line I noticed a price gap;

    * (a) for about e30:

    10.8v, 4300WH

    * (b) for e45-e50
    10.8v, 8800mAh

    I assumed option B was better value, comparing battery capacity in WH and mAh.

    Can anyone confirm which of these are the better offer? I basically want the longest lasting one - at the moment, the laptop is constantly plugged in :(

    Thanks you!!!

    Option B is a longer lasting battery obviously. Option A could be a 3 cell while B is 6 cell giving you a longer period to run on battery for. It could also be more bulky, ie. sticking out of the bottom of laptop so check it out.

    Don't know whether this is of any relevance, but there might be a free replacement as part of the HP recall. I see that the DV6000 is listed, but it depends on the serial number of the particular battery fitted.

    My laptop is on the list, but my battery serial number Isn't mentioned.

    Thanks guys. I checked the list but unfornatuely my battery is not listed :( I ordered one for + pp about e28 in total. Same one on HP is $130...wtf???

    One guy says:

    "HP informed me that you aren't suppose to actually leave your battery in the computer if it is plug in for regular use (as in plugged in not just for charging). I am ordering another one and only putting it in when I need to take my laptop to class, hopefully it will last a lot longer. Another way would be to full charge and discharge the battery every day to keep it up to 2hrs - but HP also informed me that batteries only last for 400 - 600 charge & recharges.... So basically, charge your battery and TAKE IT OUT, then run your laptop with it plugged in and only use the battery when you need to be moblie."

    I was a victim of that!!!

    Thanks for your replies :D
