Domination tactics

    What we need to do in order to clear this as quickly as possible, i hate the hard slogs.

    Imo we have to have good air support, each town should take no longer than 20 minutes to clear.

    We need an A10 AV with LGB and the AH in the air constantly.

    Ground needs a tank at all times at the start of an assault, taking out the tower before we enter the red zone is crucial to winning in 20 minutes or less.

    Ground needs a laser designator , prefarbly a sniper who when the bombs are dropping can pick out a few targets.

    Comms and coordination and we could literally annihliate towns.

    AA needs to be taken out if Air units are to get near the area. With the way AA is in the game, really can't go near areas with out having to hug the ground. I do like being kept on my toes though. It needs to be hard for flying as the air is pretty powerful in ArmA 2. That harrier that doesnt use the laser guided GBU's (the one that also has hydras and sidewinders) is really feckin easy to use.

    I've noticed people online just randomly carpet bombing with it, thats not how you use it. Literally you just point your nose at an enemy tank, fire one bomb and pull evasive maneuvers... that tank is dead meat 99% of the time, even when its moving. The other 1% is when a building is obstructing the bomb or something.

    Its seriously seriously easy. So the AA does have to be bitch. I just think it'd be nice if we heard a tone, or beeping or something when theres a missile incoming or whatever. So at least it feels a little less like your plane just randomly crashed into an invisible wall.


    Another thing about assaulting towns: maybe small forward bases can help. I've noticed the machine gunner can build a machine gun nest, and then the medic can build a medi-tent, maybe that could be a good way to set up a covering fire position for those trying to make it to the radio tower, with an LAV25 as back up maybe too. I was also gonna suggest someone laze the radio towers but I think they;re set so only satchels can take them out in domination, I'm not sure.

    nope radio towers can be lazed fine. Check the screenshot thread :)

    They can also be blown by 4-5 hits from a tank.
    We like to mix it up and try different tactics, keeps it fun and interesting.

    I could see tanks being ripped to shreds due to the number of enemy tanks in most villages or objectives. In some of the towns we have done, there has been artillery batteries aswel which wouldnt be healthy for tanks. I'd advise the tanks being held back initially until these are taken out.

    The air is important but as said, there is a lot of AA sometimes hidden tunguskas. Again, these need to be taken out first.

    I think the basics for a quick, successful ground assault should be:

    - The mobile respawn vehicle has to be moved as close to the target as possible for every assault. There is normally at least two respawn vehicles, I think in major missions, the two should be used to allow players to choose where to respawn. The two respawn points should both be close to the objective and well covered and will allow players to attack from two sides. This will require two heli trips to set up. Ideally the heli will be landed and can be used to bring the respawn vehicle to the next target. (This one will be hard because of the AA and the fact that we want to be close to the target).

    - Everyone should have either satchels or some kind of anti-tank gun with them due to the number of tanks, AA, BMPs all over the map.

    Also, used correctly, an AH can take out most of the armour in less than 10 seconds.

    Plant trees to deal with enemy helis. I think they are magnetic or something; experiments thus far are inconclusive.

    We have 3-4 Domination missions on the server, I got these by joining popular servers and getting the mission in my AppData folder and uploading them, remember the full Domination mission pack caused problems before and they ended up removing them again. These Domination missions we've been playing are in the top 5 the most popular online, see, a few others in that list are also on the server
