Noticed that Informed Performance officially opened on Monday. Personally I am delighted that a facility like this has hit Ireland, exactly what is needed and I wish Barry and Will the very best of luck.
Has anyone had a visit or joined?

    It's not 1k a year, it's €79 per month!

Thanks for the good wishes folks. Things are busy as you'd imagine with a lot of things still to do but we're up and running and everyone is enjoying the training so far.

Is that €79 all in or are the BJJ/MMA classes going to be extra?

In fairness Barry it's €948 a year, close enough to a grand!

Looks like a great setup to be honest, I'm away this weekend so I won't make the sub tourney but I'll try and make it out to you at some stage. Can I just pop in and pay for an assessment with Will just for the day or do you even do drop ins?

Best of luck with it, I'm sure it'll be no time at all before your membership is saturated!

That's all in. There are no hidden extras. I won't get into a debate on price because the gym and expertise available speaks for itself.

Bobby, your best bet is to mail Dan dan@informedperformance.com for all of that.

    Thanks for the good wishes.

Have to admit that does look like a pretty sweet setup you got there.

best of luck with it guys - look super!

Gotta ask though, why is it that when ever there are trap bar deadlifts done its done in a high handle position? I see it the same as doing partial deadlifts as the high handle is sooo much more off the floor (a good 3 inches). You can lift more i know but i find there is no glutes involved in it in that high position. Just wondering?

The simple answer is that it's not always done that way, and the TBD is only one of lots of deadlift variations that we do.

We're gathering good questions for the blog in the next while and I think that would be a good one for Will to expland on there. I know and understand why we do it but can't explain it quite like he does :)

High handles as a test of raw strength is a lot simpler to do than low handles technique wise and much much simpler and safer for someone doing an initial assesment than a straight bar deadlift or squat.
I would imagine that might be part of the reason anyway.

congratulations and best of luck with it. I was reading a little about it on google and it sounds very well thought out and the staff seem passionate. Just wondering where abouts is it located, all i got from the blog was north side?

Aw now I have to answer!

It's also worth noting that most of the video that exists is of either testing or conditioning, both of which are sexier and more exciting than watching a strength session. The TBD gets used a lot in those sessions because of the reasons Spiral mentioned above.

I have no money, and pretty soon I'm moving to Cork, but if that was not the case this is without doubt where I would train. In fact, once I'm in Cork and have loads of money I might just train there anyway on weekends.

P.S. you guys must all be getting really big arms with all those curl racks?

    Very best of luck lads.
