    Hello all
I'm not looking for 100% vegetarian restaurants in Dublin, not sure if such exists, but i'm wondering about regular restaurants in Dublin which have a good if not extensive choice when it comes to vegetarian meals in the city centre?
I know most restaurants have the vegetarian option but most of the time the choice is poorish and short isn't it
Anyways, i'd be happy to hear any input you all have... If you could name the restaurants which has maybe 5 - 10 vegetarian dishes i would be most grateful.

    My thanks in advance
    DG

    Good question and useful too...

The 101 Talbot is good http://www.101talbot.com/
    Odessa http://www.odessa.ie/ (great for brunch)
    L'ecrivian http://www.lecrivain.com/#VEGETARIAN%20MENU
Yamamori /Wagamam etc are always good.
Indian & Italian usually have choices.

I find you need to be a little careful with italians, they may have parmesan (which contains animal rennet)or pesto (which can contain parmesan) on their food, neither of which is veggie

Milano are good at acknowledging when a dish isn't veggie cause of the cheese and the food there is yummy

Saba is a thai restaurant near Grafton St, they'll do any possible dish on menu with tofu or veg as a substitute which is great!

If you're into Indian food, the Madina Desi restaurant on Mary Street does the best dal & chickpea curries I've ever tasted.

Town Bar & Grill on Kildare Street have a veggie menu - their food is really high quality and they're doing a 20-25 euro lunch deal at the moment.

Sixty-Six on Georges Street also have a veggie menu & is great for all-day brunch.

The Farm on Dawson Street has loads of veggie options like burgers, pasta etc. and speaking of burgers all the Gourmet Burger Kitchens and Bo-Bos on Camden Street have fantastic veggie burgers with 3 or 4 varieties.

Also the Winding Stair only has a couple of veggie options, but they change their menu frequently and they're always really delicious. A good choice if you want something hearty and Irish with cheese and potatoes in it.

Any of the above kick Juice's ass - God I hate that that's the only proper veggie restaurant in this city - the food is muck!

Jo'burger in Rathmines, Blackrock and maybe other places do a few good veggie burgers as well. Nice variety of sauces, toppings etc.

Montys of Katmandu on Eustace street is excellent.

If Indian's your thing, can't recommend Kinara in Clontarf highly enough. I love Indian and think it's Dublin's best.

Pricey enough but awesome and the earlybird's definitely worth a try if you think you'd like it.

Second the 101 Talbot mention too, not 5-10 of them but always very good choices.

Also if you're passing through the City Centre, Gruel on Dame st. is very good - equal in my opinion to the 101 but a little bit more 'casual eathouse' as opposed to pre-theatre type restaurant.

there's a branch on Rathgar Road as well.

Cornucopia, Wicklow street is a MUST for veggies... Great daily menu, vegan, yeast free, dairy free options available, organic wine!! you can't go wrong! Quirky surroundings... 10/10!

Also yummy yamamori! Vegetable Ramen is the tastiest veggie dish I have ever had... Tempura Asparagus... my mouth is still watering thinking of it!:D

Such does indeed exist! Cornucopia, Juice and Govinda's are all 100% vegetarian.

But to answer your actual question, Milano's, The Cedar Tree (Lebanese on Trinity St), and, if you're willing to go a bit further out, Lisa's in Terenure all have amazing veggie/vegan options.

To add to the list of Indians, Konkan in Harold's Cross has an extensive vegetarian menu. It's also cheap as chips, the staff are lovely and you never need to book in advance. They also do restaurant-quality take away (as opposed to take away-quality restaurant food!)

Don't be put off by the fact that it's usually a bit empty, I've eaten here countless times and it's fantastic, and my opinion is shared by anyone I've ever brought there (double figures). Except for my granny, but she doesn't recognise anything that isn't bacon and cabbage as food :p

Salamanca beside the tourist office is great, was just there tonight actually and had a delish cous-cous tart. Suitable for veggies, not so much for vegans i don't think.

Bump. Looking for a restaurant in the City suitable for a veggie and a vegan (plus two normal people!). Are there any additions to the list made here a couple of years ago?

By coincidence I walked past Jo'Burger in Rathmines last night and I see that that is listed here.

Any of the above should suit you. Also Dada, The Cedar Tree, The Chameleon, Ciao Bella Roma, The Port House or Yammamori.

A favorite of mine of late is El Bahia (just off Wicklow Street at the back of Brown Thomas), lovely tagines, hummus, aubergine dips and so on. Caters for both meaters and us lot.

I would also recommend Konkan as one of the best non-vegetarian restaurant for vegetarians. There are 10-20 vegetarian options (some are vegan as well) and they are 2/3 the price of the meaty dishes... :pac:

Also the Montys of Kathmandu in Temple Bar, which were recommended above, have an excellent vegetarian offers, though not as many as Konkan and the price is dearer.

Both restaurants have an additional Branch. Konkan opened a new place in Dundrum, not far from the shopping centre. The Montys also run the Montys of Rathgar, which doesn't feel as crowded as their city centre location.

This is a great thread idea :) While cornucopia or govindas is grand it definitely doesn't cut it as restaurant food, it's more casual dining. My favourite place would be Chameleon because it's lovely place, the vegetarian rijst-tafel is awesome and it's just quality vegetarian food that you're not going to get elsewhere. Other places......The Cedar Tree, 101 Talbot always has some nice veggie options, hard to think of more places right now but I'm always looking for places like this, somewhere that is a proper treat but you can also get some quality veggie food.

Just ate in the farm restaurant and it was excellent, they have 6 veggie mains, one is vegan. 3 courses for 25e and it was delicious, definitely going back. They have a button you your table to get servie and the staff were lovely. Huge portions as well.

Another place I'm planning on going which has some nice veggie things is the rustic stone ran by one of those lads off masterchef.

It is great to see so much choice on a menu. :)

One thing to note for people though, is that Tallegio and obviously Parmesan. Would be made the traditional way with animal rennet.

Can anyone recommend somewhere on south side of city centre for a great veggie breakfast?:)

Trying to pick a dinner too, considering L'Ecrivain but have no idea if it's the best option or not, anyone tried it??

There aren't many but any ones I've been in are pretty good not sure about a great selection suppose it varied on the days you go in. If its a more up market places rather than a deli/café/pub grub, the restaurants I have mentioned are worth a look.

Hugo's, bang restaurant and specialised vegetarian restaurant on Merrion Row.

    http://www.bangrestaurant.com/

Bang have veggie options but not many.

    http://www.hugos.ie/

Hugo's do great goats cheese if you like it and like cheese but the portion is a bit small, might have changed since. Menus/portion sizes can vary depending where you go.

    http://www.govindas.ie/

Govinda's is a vegetarian/Indian restaurant, lovely when its specifically only vegetarian menu. I had soup there and it was lovely and unique never had soup like it before.

Any of the Italian restaurants - Dunne and Crescenzi off South Frederick St be my choice.

    http://www.dunneandcrescenzi.com/

There was a lovely other Italian place - Ceasers I think but they have since closed down, they were near hatch st and westmoreland st/dame st/college st.

Well, stay away from Les Frere Jacques on Dame Street.

They have no vegetarian on the menu, so i rang ahead and was told it would be fine.

they gave me a bowl of lettuce for start and a place of lettuce with a raw souffle for main course.

http://www.darwins.ie/ on Aungier street is very good for everyone (my death devouring family love the steaks there)

le bon crubeen also have a few veggie options, more for starters than mains but you could possibly ask for a larger version of the veggie risotto for a main.

Pearl Brasserie is supposed to be good (ages since I've been) and the new Dylan Mcgrath place the Fade Street Social seemed to have a good few veggie options, not been yet though.
