If you want a professional job defenderdude is the man to talk to, from making the actual paint all the way to finishing the patterns his work is some of the best ive seen. I know he used to do custom jobs for people but im no sure if hes still doing it, you could PM him and see. :)

    Hey man,

Ive done 2 of my rifles using Krylon Camo paint.
Personally i didnt find it too difficult to do and im pretty happy with the results.
Heres a few examples of my rifles.
G36k(dont mind the Trojan/Spartan type helmet its just a little personal touch i put to my own stuff) and an M14 Scout (SOLD).
I'd offer to do it but i cant get Green Krylon at the moment as MIA are out of stock for another few weeks.
I used a mixture of leaves, grass, twigs and a few stencils i made.
Colours : Green base coat and with some stencils, Brown for leaves and that and black with the stencils.
Gimme a shout if youve any questions.

Look at the spartan helmet in the last pic where the HK logo would be, bloody nice work.

    Thanks a lot Gerrowadat,
Great name by the way, haha....
I do actually have pics of a few different stages(not all of them now) ill post them later if you want to have a look.
The M14 was my 1st time doing it, only got into airsoft 2 months ago.
Take your time if your doing it if you rush you'll mess up.
If i didnt have to give time to dry i could do it all in an hour or so.
But i give about 20-30 mins to dry and settle in between stages.
I was thinking about putting an add up for doing it for people for a reasonable price.Like i said i have to get some more green before i do anything haha....

    Thanks man,
The helmet is actually on the M14 aswell just sorta hidden from view tho Its under the grip on the flat base part.

    Heres the pic.
Its on the butt of the grip.

    hows it going guys!
i have an M4 S-System and i want to paint it a sandy/tan colour with black stripes on it.
the gun is black anyway but it has a lot of parts that have holes on it.
i was wonderin if it would be best to take it apart and paint it that way and wats the best way to do it so the paint doesnt scratch off easily?
    any advice would be great!....

    Hey MIA,
I'd advise you to take it apart because the rail system on the S-System is fairly open with a lot of wiring in there.Try keep the paint away from all internals. When i done my G36k(below) i sealed up every part that i wasnt painting(ie. barrel, mag well, hopup chamber) and paint dust still managed to make its way into the barrel and on some other internals.
Crylon is pretty good for staying on there(wears over time on grips and most used areas obviously but i wouldnt worry about that too much).
I'd usually put a base coat on of whatever the primary color will be(green in my case as i prefer woodland camo).Start with the light colours and then go to the dark.(Thats the way ive done it and i think it works pretty well).
So basicly take off whatever parts you want to paint it ll make your life alot easier haha.
If your doing it yourself be patient and leave plenty of time to dry and colors to set.(give base around an hour to dry, then give each stage after that a half hour to hour)then when your happy leave it in a shed(somewhere with fresh air)for a few days.It ll be worth it in the end.
    Hope that novel helps haha....

Any questions gimme a shout as id actually love to do a desert style camo job.I have alot of ideas for one.

PS If you havent got tan paint MIA have plenty still they also have black and brown.

    No bother man...
Well if you want sections black simply just take it apart and spray only the sections you want.

Heres how id do it if i had an S-System:
(My mate has one so i know the layout)

Personally id leave sections black.(ie.the barrel and main reciever(main part of the rifle)

When your happy with what you want to paint put down your base coat(tan).Give it a light dusting/coat first just so it ll stick properly when you go to put on the full base coat.(give the dusting coat a half hour or so to settle)then go for the full base coat(Give that a half to full hour to dry)

Id paint the stock, complete front rail system(or if you have rail covers spray just them even) and also spray the pistol grip(and foregrip if you have one).

If you just want simple black jagged stripes either cut out stencils or simply use painters tape and make a few messy lines diagonally across the rifle and spray black between the gaps cover the outer areas as you wont want black sprits/dots all over you tan section.

Also i think a nice touch would be if you got a bit of brown and done a thin shadow/outline on one side of the black stripes. It would probably give it some nice depth.(Do this after you ve finished the black stripes.Again just use some tape and cover the other area around it you dont want paint on)

    A few spraying tips :
Shake the cans really well before and during.
Always start spraying off the rifle and glide diagonally across it.
Spray about 8 inches away dont get too close or you ll ruin the matte texture(bad times:eek:).
Press down fully and firmly on the nozzle or you can get random sprits flying anywhere(badder times:mad:).
If parts look like theres not much paint on it dont be tempted to keep going over it wait for it to dry then check again(too much paint will make it shiny and lumpy)

Sorry about the big novel again its just hard for me to put into words what i do.
I'd actually be happy to do it for you if you took it apart first(dont want to be responsible for any missing screws or pins haha);)[/COLOR]
Theres nothing worse than when your putting something back together and a pin goes walkies.....
Hope this helps.Same rules pretty much apply to all styles.
Gimme a shout if you need anymore help.

Almost forgot very important : Clean the rifle down with some turps/white spirits before you go near it with paint then dry it off completely it ll be good to go then.

    thanks again buddy!
yeh im now thinkin about sprayin parts, i saw a lovely magpul dynamics m4 with tan parts and it looks pretty awesome.
i fink i'll go with wat u said to leave black(barrel and main reciever) i might leave the three rails that attach on the front black aswell, a bit of contrast up front!

haha, dont worry about the 'novel' i'm the same takes me ages to type out wat i want to say,lol

so M.I.A have the paint?.....all i need is the tan, do i need any sorta paint to spray over wen its all done?....to preserve it?...

    Cool,
Well you could use Snakes one out of M.G.S. Guns of the Patriots game on PS3 as an example(if you've played it).Although he has green parts on that.Same idea though just use tan.Like i said if you have rail covers for the front paint them tan.I bet that would look even better as it would keep the balance between colours. Also i'd leave the stock bar thing black and only spray the pull out stock bit.Again it would give a nice balance between the colors.

You can get tan M4 mags too like the SCAR ones.Might be a nice add on.
Maybe even paint the Flash hider tan.

    IE.
    (Flash Hider=Tan)=Maybe?!?!

    Barrel and Rails=Black
    Rail Covers=Tan
    Main Receiver=Black
    Grip=Tan
    Stock Bar/Tube=Black
    Main Stock Part=Tan

See the pattern from top to bottom.;)

I know MIA have plenty of Tan,Brown,Black.
    No green though .
I'm waiting on it so i can paint my VSR 10 G-Spec.

    Any questions gimme a shout
OR if you're not feeling up to it ill be happy to do it for you and when im done you can give me whatever you think the job is worth?!?!
    Its up to you man.

    Yo man,
I just draw mine then cut them out with a scalpel.
Tiger stripes should be handy enough to do.
Look at a picture of the actual camo pattern or an actual tiger and then take 3 or 4 shapes from the pic, big and small.Draw them.Cut them out and just put them in different places and turn them upside down or angle them differently to get different variations of the pattern.
    Hope that helps.

HAHA....I don't think you'll have to worry too much.
Tan paint wouldn't be the most popular in Ireland's terrain i reckon.
Was up in MIA last week and they still have a rake load of it.
Give me a shout if you have any problems.

Greens and browns are more useful... and this 'phase' of colouring is coming to an end.... I'd be looking at winter and autumn camoflages now... Tan guns in winter will stick out like a geardo at the supermarket.

    Yo MIA,
To get the black faded either spray the tan lightly in the areas you want faded or what i'd do is when using the stencil hold it a bit away from the area your gonna spray and do one really light quick sweep over it.
Because its not pressed onto the area it'll give a blurred effect and wont stand out as much.
    Hope that helps you.
    Good luck with it again.
