Indicators keep freezing- HELP!

I drive a '94 starlet (yeah, i know... but i love my little rust bucket!) :P
The indicators keep freezing amber on me. It doesn't happen constantly, some days they'll work fine, other days they wont.

Sometimes they'll flash normally 3-4 times and then freeze. I've changed all the indicator bulbs and checked the connecting wires and there doesn't seem to be any obvious damage/loose wires... It's not just one or two of the indicators, it's all 4. And it's the same situation when I put them on hazard mode. Anyhoos, NCT is due in a few weeks and I just want to get it sorted :(

Any ideas what it could be??

Did you try disconnecting the hazard swith from its plug.

Reconnect and try(worked for me on a few cars).

That or another hazard switch from a breakers(cost feck all)

If that doesnt help the indicator stalk could be at fault.

    Hope that helps.

    Yep, that's where I'd start.

It'll be the flasher unit alright - visit your local breakers yard and you'll pick one up easily enough. You should get one from a bigger car, possibly Carina E, as this will have a nicer sound. In older cars the flasher unit makes the ticking sound you hear when the flashers are on.
