2 week old kittens with fleas

Have trawled a fair bit on the internet and found this very good guide to ridding a kitten of fleas. However, most solutions suggest bathing and washing the kittens. My question is, will the mother cat still be able to identify her kittens after they've been washed and bathed? Will it affect the scent of the kittens so that they become unrecognisable to the mother?

    Thanks

washing a kitten wont remove its scent. Its like saying washing ourselves means we wont sweat again and we will forever smell like soap

You need to rid the environement of fleas, only 5% of fleas are actually on your pet, ie 95% of them are in your house...this means washing all bedding the kittens are in contact with, the animals themselves, hoovering, disinfecting areas, opening up dark areas (fleas like dark areas- floorboards etc) and also decontaminating the environment with a product to kill fleas such as a flea spray- Indorex is one that you can get from all decent vets and you spray it around the house. If you dont decontaminate the environment, the fleas will just return, and you'll be back at square one.

    Thanks all for your replies.

Have made a huge effort to rid the environment of fleas and have used a flea comb on the kittens. It's been about 48 hours so far, and there have no more sign of the fleas. Fingers crossed!
