so i have a 3v card and i think it's rubbish, doesn't work on many websites.. trying to find a decent website where you pay a monthly/yearly subscription to download loads of music/films and i can't find one where you can pay with 3v.
what does anyone think of wirecards? do you need a mastercard to use it or can you just have a bank account?
i have an AIB student account & laser card & NOWHERE online accepts laser card payment..
so some help please if possible! also if there are any other credit card replacement cards out there available in ireland and accepted as payment on most websites as replacement for visa or something, other than wirecard/3v card, please let me know! & let's hear what everyone thinks of 3v cards and wirecards (the latter i'm just about to try, i don't know how well it'll work though)
    thanks guys

I think you can get a halifax debit card thats as good as a credit card eg you can use it online more than a laser card

3v cards arent rubbish its the same as using a visa card , iv used them on half a dozen websites, where cant you use them?

^ ok i dont think they're rubbish, but i don't like them to use and my card didn't work on emusic when i tried to use it to register there. it has worked before, but i don't like the business of getting vouchers in a shop, i'd like to have a prepaid credit-card-replacer that you can link up directly to my online AIB bank account.

^ thanks, that's a great list. so when i said nowhere accepts them, I was wrong & hadn't done my research properly. but ebay, amazon and most online music download sites (if not all? i don't know this for sure) won't accept laser so a credit card or 3v or wirecard is pretty handy to have as well.
Does anyone else use wirecard? Did you have to give your bank account number (as well as other non-personal bank details) in order to link your bank account to your wirecard? Linking your bank account to your wirecard account seems to me the only way to get money on to your wirecard account, unless you have a credit card, you can use that, but if you had a credit card why would you get a wirecard..
Any advice on using wirecard would be great; I went into my local bank today to get some of the bank details that wirecard required, and the lady said it's rare that they ask for your bank account number online and to make absolutely sure it was safe, legitimate, etc. So can anyone reassure me that it is and tell me how wirecard works and if it's any good?

i think 3v are ok, but there's all these problems with it: (i didn't write this myself but i found this on a review of 3v and wirecard and it makes great sense)
EUR 5 immediate purchase fee (dead money, and in fairness there is no need for such a fee as Permanent TSB will make a profit every time the card is used from the percentage fee the merchant is obliged to pay)
    60 day expiration
A new card number every time your topup (this makes merchants think you are up to some scam, getting a new card every week, and many automatically freeze your account)
EUR 2.50 redemption of unused credit fee (there would be no need for a redemption if the card number didn’t change)
Its hard to topup, despite being offered “in association with” Permanent TSB who have an impressive nationwide branch network, you must visit a reseller such as a local newsagent or supermarket that has a terminal to buy a topup voucher (such shops are dropping 3v every day, and the list on the website is fantasy

It was so annoying, I got a €20 voucher and while it was great that there's no fee for a voucher under €30, i found that i needed more money so got another €20 voucher. i was buying something on ebay where you can't use two separate credit cards (in my case, two separate vouchers) so I moved €15 from one card to the other (I realised after I should have moved all €20) which cost me €2.50 and after the purchase I was left with €1.50 on one card and €5 on the other... obviously it would be more convenient to have both sums on the same voucher but if i were to move the €5 to the other card, i would be left with €2.50, so it seems so pointless.

Agree with pretty most of what you said especially when you have a few euro left on a voucher.Very hard finding a shop that does close around nowso many have given it up
