Paul is the more versatile fighter, but me thinks that Kelly's natural size and heavier hands will do the trick. It's a massive test for Williams; Pavlik being the biggest and heaviest natural man he has ever met.

Great fight - we need more fights like it!

Williams is definitely the better boxer but i don't think he will beat Kelly at the weight. I'm going with Pavlik late stoppage.

Williams can surely bulk up a lot .
he usually weighs in like a skeleton but i think williams may win by ko ,..... and i'll expect big odds for it !
    5/1 id say.

Wear em down Paul Williams :)

Pavlik takes a good hiding, so I don't see him getting stopped.

But he will be taking the hiding of his life against Williams.

    Williams UD.

And this fight looks a cracker,
Williams the so unorthodox fighter will give Pavlik many problems with his reach and foot movement.
    Can't wait for this one!

This is gonna be like Pavlik-Hopkins but worse for Pavlik. Williams should use his high work rate to land consistently on Kelly, i'm picking Williams for a stoppage about round 10 with both Pavlik's eyes closed

While Williams will likely be ahead on points, i don't think he'll be as an elusive target as Hopkins was for Pavlik. So If Pavlik lands with any consistency during the fight, despite Williams having a good chin, i think it'll be goodnight for Williams.

After thinking about it a bit more, you're right. This has all the makings of a complete mismatch. I actually wouldn't be surprised to see Williams KTFO Pavlik out cold. Pavlik was all but out against Taylor the first time and fought a CLOSE fight the second time (many feel he lost). Losing to B-Hop wasn't a big surprise. In this fight, he's up against a power puncher at the weight (Williams SHOULD be a middleweight and I expect him to rule there). Pavlik will be shipping an awful lot of punches. 100 per round are coming at him, and he hasn't exactly got the best head movement in the world.

It's probably going to be a massacre in favour of Williams. Pavlik just too stationary and plodding and SLOW to keep up.

This is an excellent fight for boxing, I think williams is just to busy and throws to many punchs for flatfoot pavlik.

    Paul williams TKO 7 :D

Pavlik vs. Williams Rescheduled; Goossen Unaware Of Rescheduling

It was announced early this evening that the WBC and WBO World Middleweight Championship bout between Kelly Pavlik and challenger Paul Williams was rescheduled to a new date of Nov. 21 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Dan Goossen of Goossen Tutor Promotions has said that is news to him and the Williams camp: "If a release was sent stating that Pavlik was fighting November 21, I would be very interested in finding out who he's fighting. As we’re all aware, we've just learned of Pavlik's decision to cancel the press conference and thus the fight, and we will evaluate where we go from here.."

    Pavlik vs. Williams Rescheduled

ATLANTIC CITY NJ (August 17, 2009) –- World Middleweight Champion Kelly Pavlik and challenger Paul Williams have a new date, Nov. 21 for their title fight at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Pavlik and Williams were initially set to fight on October 3 at Boardwalk Hall, live on HBO’s World Championship Boxing; however, Pavlik has been bothered with an injury of the middle knuckle on his left hand which requires medical attention. The press luncheon scheduled for Tuesday, August 18 has also been postponed to Tuesday, September 1. Bob Arum of Top Rank made the announcement today.

Pavlik (35-1, 31 KOs), the star from Youngstown, Ohio, Ghost wrote a career year in 2007 against three of the best who boasted a combined record of 74-4-3 (55 KOs) when he faced them.. The was the consensus “Fighter of the Year” for 2007 and a seventh-round stoppage of the previously undefeated Taylor, to claim the world middleweight championship, was selected as the “Fight of the Year” by the Boxing Writers Association of America and extended Pavlik’s two-year victory by knockout streak to nine bouts.

Williams (37-1, 27 KOs), from Atlanta, Georgia, boasts a 73% victory by knockout ratio and five victories over world champions, two good reasons why he is known as boxing’s “Most Feared Fighter.” The tall southpaw with the endless reserve of power and energy has twice captured the WBO welterweight title and returns to the ring after one of his most impressive victories, a thorough blitzkrieg of two-time junior middleweight champion Winky Wright this past April.

Pavlik vs. Williams in promoted by Top Rank and Goossen Tutor Promotions in association with Caesars Atlantic City. The even will be hosted by Caesars Atlantic City.

I hope there is no substance to the rumours surrounding this cancellation.

This is bollix. Not a happy camper. So is the Mayweather/Marquez fight the only top fight until then? And will it be pay-per-view on Sky or will ESPN have the rights?

Don't you mean delay, or postponement?

I haven't heard the rumours but I do know Sergio Mora has a contract to fight kelly Pavlik. The contract doesn't have a specific date and I'm not sure if it states he has to be Pavlik's next fight but the contract is there and until that is sorted Pavlik v Williams won't be going ahead.
