Internet Connectivity Prob

    Hello All,

Over the last day or two I have noticed that my iMac seems to take forever to load an internet page and more often than not, will not load the page at all. The only resolution I have found is to power off, unplug modem, wait 30 secs or so, replug and load up again but this is becoming a joke when you find yourself doing this several times a day!

Can anybody offer some much needed help?

    Cheers.

How is the Mac connected to the modem? Wirelessly? Is the signal strength full?

What ISP are you? May be a problem on their end.

iMac is connected via ethernet cable, I'm with NTL but I don't think it's a problem from their end to give them their dues. I have just updated safari software so fingers crossed all seems to be well at the moment....

Have you been using Airport recently? Or connecting to the internet from another location?

My memory of Tiger is a bit hazy, but try this:

    - Go to System Prefs > Network

    - Click on the Show menu and choose Active Network Ports

    - Make sure Built-in-Ethernet is checked and drag it to the top of the list

Tried all that and all was okay however, I have now discovered that if I pull the power supply from my router for a few seconds and then wait for it to reboot - internet comes back no bother. Maybe it's my Netgear router that's knackered????
