Driver Length

Hi all. I'm currently using a Mitsubishi Javlin FX (X Stiff) shaft in a Cleveland Launcher Comp 10.5 Degree Head. The shaft was taken from a Bridgestone J33 driver head which had a longer hosel than normal, and had an overall length of 44.75". Although X-Stiff, the torque on the shaft is 4.2, which is similar to the torque on the Aldila Voodoo 65g R flex.

The cleveland is now 44" inches in length, but first impressions are that all strikes are more out of the sweetspot due to the shorter length.

Standard length drivers (graphite) are 44.5" inches, but most drivers bought now range from 45 to 46 inches. What driver head/driver length do you have, and what success have you had with it?

Does it really matter? My driver is normal length and It goes straight and long enough 85% of the time.

Apparently it does. I read this morning that pro's wont use anything over 44.5 inches due to control issues.

Next time you're watching the pro's on TV, see how close they appear to stand over the ball with the big stick.

I met Goosen in Mount Juliet when the American Express was on a few years back. He's a bit shorter than myself in height, but watching him lately at the Open, he appeared to be right over the ball.

I was talking to a contact on Golfwrx.com last night. From what he knows, Garcia's driver is only 43.5 inches long.
    Shame about his putting
