How much for a cheap mountain bike in shops these days?

    Im looking for a very basic mountain bike,can anybody tell me how much the cheapest would cost? I really don't have a clue in regards to pricing

    You can get bikes very cheap, but they are a false economy. So the real question is how much is the minimum you would spend on a bike. Min I would recommend is ~€400, any lower and you should go second hand IMO.

    I play rugby so it would be just for a 3 mile journey there and back for training really. How much is cheap and what would a basic second hand cost? I'm thinking of going down to the shops in Fairview for a gander

    Unless you are cycling across fields to get to the rugby you do not need a mountain bike- get a "hybrid" instead. Less to go wrong. New prices for a decent one start around the €320 mark for a Giant CRS, you can get decent secondhand from €100-150.
