:) What a great day in the calendar for anyone lucky enough (or wealthy enough) to be out shooting grouse while the rest of us are staring at computer screens

Yep! the Highlands are full of Dirty Bankers & City men today. I had the privilege of a couple of days of walked up grouse over setters in the Highlands many years ago. Great experience as long as you are fit & keep away from the Peat on the top shelf. Walked up is realistically priced, "well it was back then" & should definitely be put on the "things to do before I die list!" & pretty close to the top of it.

Yeah, a couple of friends of mine have doen the walked up and they still rant on about it. As you say, must add it to my "To Do" list.

The Gamekeepers are the ones that are saving them, but the Dirty Bankers & Big Business helps to pay for it.

no bankers or big business men no money for the estates , so no keepers ,no vermin control ,no management ,no grouse .

there is very few estates going to put 100s of thousands of pounds into any wild life management with a return.

thats why we have little to no grouse shooting in ireland. no management

came across 5 grouse last sunday when i had the dogs out on the mountain, the dogs set them all,:D a clutch of 4 and a cock grouse on his own. twas lovely to see them.. we dont shoot them at all in our club, which is only right coz they are scarce enough. Hopefully with careful management wel increase the numbers.
