Problem sending texts on Vodafone prepay

just bought an unlocked nokia 6210 on ebay (new). connected to vodafone network and it makes calls alright but text messaging wont work. the message centre number was vodafone uk so i changed it to vodafone ireland number and it made no difference.
anyone know why this could be happening?

id really appreciate help, dont think i can live without text messaging

Does your SIM work in another phone?
Have you double checked that you have the message centre number correct (+35387699989)?
Can you receive texts?

yep my sim works in my other nokia.
and iv doubled checked the number.
iv received one text ok so far.

Go into message settings and make sure the right message centre is also selected?

yep, def vodafone, def +35387699989

would creating a new one make a diff? i just changed the num of the vodafone one that was already there.

Yah, try adding a new message centre. Doubt it'll matter but worth a shot.

Also suggest:
* try another SIM in the phone to see if that works
* restore factory settings

Does the phone give any error or anything?

actually while i still have u here

theres a message symbol flashing on the phone since i turned it on! its doing my nut in, there is no msgs and i checked voice mail.

any ideas?

yea first thing i did, restart! na i checked all over the phone, no msgs, very strange! ah well

Try this

Menu > Messaging > Options > Sim Messages

Delete all messages that you see on that screen.

Can't promise they'll be any use but have a look for ringtones here or transfer your own MP3s to the phone.
