Recieving tax credits on rent

    Hi folks, I rented an apartment for 2 years with my girlfriend from an auctioneers, we are both students and I was wondering if I was able to claim some money back on the rent we paid. I have no reciepts for the rent but surely the auctioneers will just print some off for me.....I think

    You should be able to. Make sure you have receipts and then fill in one of these (PDF 334KB) for each year.

    You can only claim some back if you have paid tax in the year you paid the rent. Have you been working and got a P60?

    Ah I think I'm beginning to get the whole 'claiming tax back' thing now, I'm working but because my income level is so low as far as I'm aware I pay no tax at all, so I wouldn't be able to claim anything at all yes?
