Circumcision - where to begin?

So i know i need a circumcision. I've had tight foreskin all my life, which i believe is known as phimosis and i've decided, at 23 years of age, to do something about it. But i really don't know where to start. Basically, when erect, the foreskin doesn't peel back over the tip of the penis fully and is very painful when forced.

I understand i have to visit a GP first (will any GP do as i don't really have a regular one?). What happens then? I have health insurance (Vivas)...does anyone know if this actually covers the procedure? Also how long is required off work for it? As it's a pretty private thing, i don't want my employers or mates to find out what i'm off work for.

    Any advice/opinion welcome.

Any anyone that says their are creams or loosening methods out there, i don't really want to hear it as i don't believe that's the answer.
