    Howdy.

I was wondering if some of you had more information on this.I know you must be in receipt of the JS allowence for 6 months to apply but after that I havnt a clue.

I know its just being rolled out at the moment as I was in my local Fas office last week and the person there was a bit sketchy on details because she hadnt been told herself.

What I would like to know if anyone can help is the following.

1.Are you just limited to your geographical location?Im in the midlands at the moment but today saw 3 positions Im very interested in but they are in Dublin.

2.In terms of remuneration,AFAIK you still receive your JSA but is there any obligation on the company to pay a salary, even something nominal?Again the reason for this is because If I was to relocate to Dublin living on €204 PW would be tough and would mean needing a second job just to survive.

3.Following on from that, where would one stand in this situation.Say you are working your 5 days for whichever company and getting your JSA,do the same rules apply in terms of working say in a bar or whatever on weekends or evenings ie,you cant claim JSA and work at the same time.

Ive tried looking for this info elsewhere but am thus far drawing a blank or am frickin blind.

    Any help greatly appreciated!

I'll bump this cos I'm also interested in the WPP

But I've not been unemployed for 6 months :) I've been getting JSB for less than 2 months I reckon. If they can't fill a vacancy with people 6 months out of work, do ye think they would take people less than 6 months out?

eg. I'm looking for work experience in web design or graphic design. I'd say most people who would be qualified for that would be graduates (of which I am). Most unemployed graduates (I suspect) are the ones that only graduated this year -- most others would already be in employment, unless they happened to lose their job. So if everyone finished college in May, then they are max 3 months unemployed.

Dont quote me on this but AFAIK the WPP is geared towards people that have been in full time employment and were made redundant so I dunno how it would work for recent grads. However I would imagine that if the roles arent filled then new grads would be considered but like I said, dont quote me on that.:)

Im meeting with someone from FAS Monday so Im going to really pick her brain as to all the ins and outs of it.

Well the one thing she did say is that it works on a first come first served basis.

You may have had all your FAS questions answered already but in case you have not, you may get the answers at the Half A Loaf networking group meeing tomorrow.

FAS Employment Services' representatives will attend the Half a Loaf Networking Meeting tomorrow at the CYM in Terenure. They will make a presentation on the services which FAS provide to job seekers, the eligibility criteria and how to access these services. They agreed to attend and make the presenation at the request of our group as in our experience, both from the network meetings and from postings on the website, most job seekers have no idea what services are available and how to access them.

Do come and bring a friend - all are welcome

    10am, Monday, November 2, 2009

    CYMS
54 Terenure Road North, next to the Daily Star offices.

The public car park is approximatly 100 yds away,
(this is the car park that Noel O'Gara of Darthmouth Square fame is now laying a claim to!)

The 16, 16s and 49 buses stop opposite the entrance to the CYM.
The 15, 15a and 65 stop outside the RC Church (St Joseph) on the Terenure Road East which is less than 10 minutes walk away.
