    Hi
Just looking for some helpful advice if possible, dunno what to do and time feels like it's running out.
I'm late 20's. I applied for college because I'm unemployed for over a year.
I got a college offer but I'm not 100% about the course. It's interesting enough but I moved home a while back and if I went this college I'd end up living at home for the next 3 years, not my idea of fun!
I applied for courses all over the country but haven't got any offers. My main reason for wanting to move somewhere is to get a change of scenery and to meet new people and to not live at home full time. My home town is for want of a better word a kip. Nothing changes, small town small minds and all that. I would've been clever at school and even the people who didn't do well at school have left town! I don't have one single friend in town, which makes me feel worse. I feel like i could be doing so much more.
Anyway, if I don't take this college course I would look about some sort of employment for the next year and apply then but I feel as though the next year will be a bit of a waste and I'll probably end up still at home. The course is starting in a few weeks and I don't want to start the course and end up dropping out. God, am I waffling now? sorry, anyway, good to get it out there.

Your under 30 and probably eligible for a working traveling visa so i'd say:

    go walk-about..

    Hi OP

Have you picked the right course for you? That's the important thing, something you want to work at and enjoy for the next four years. You have to really want it because as a Mature Student the college themselves have to really understand if the course is A) Suitable for you in that it is something you really want to do and B) What you can bring to the course, ie. skills etc.

I went back last year to do a 4 year degree and will be going into my second year in Sept. I was back in Ireland a year after working abroad (Malta) and stayed at home for the first year. I didn't mind it too much. Transport was a problem though. Now I am going to be staying in the college accomodation and I can't wait. I didn't mind living at home but it did severly restrict me in what I could do.

You have already been accepted on your course so the college is pleased with you. Well done, that's great. If you really enjoy it then you will meet new people and have a great time. Try and join some clubs and societies when their day is on for accepting new members. It's great fun, I'm joing the surfing club next month and can't wait.

Have you looked into what you are entitled to regarding Back To Education Alowance, grants etc? If you are okay financially then look at living close to the college if you don't want to be at home. Explain this to your parents and ask them for advice.

Which college/uni are you going to? Best of luck and I hope you have a great time.

I wouldn't mind going travelling if i could afford it!
I'd rather get my act together more than just go wandering off to australia for a year but thanks for the advice all the same
