Sky Multiroom & CLI

    Hi

We (as in my family & I) are switching from Chorus-NTL to Sky. Just received the Sky cards (multiroom) this morning. Installation is supposed to take place this Friday.

So I understand that both boxes will have to be connected to our phone line. We are ok with this.

    Some questions though.

Q1. Because we opted for multiroom do we only have to keep both boxes connected to the phone line for the initial 12 month contract period or do we have to keep them permanently connected. The T&Cs are not exactly clear on this (well, not to me anyway  ).

Q2. Do we need to have CLI (Call Line Identification) activated on our phone line? We currently do not and we are ex-directory. The reason is because we were receiving crank calls about 2 years ago. When I was ordering Sky all they asked me was do we have an active phone line. They mentioned nothing about CLI.

    Thanks in advance!

the phone lines need to be connected for the duration of the multiroom sub.

not sure about the xdirectory number though.

Shouldn't need to do anything about CLI. Since it's a freephone number your sky digibox is dialling, sky will be able to see your number anyway - withheld or not. If problems do arise, then set the skybox to use the dialling prefix 142 which turns off CID withholding for that call. The installer will be able to do this if you say it to him.

I've had issues in the past, where callbacks would fail due to CLID being blocked.

Inserting 142 into the Prefix option, as mentioned above (and in the link), fixed the problem.
