Is my diet Bareable for fat loss?

    Hi there, So I'm trying to lose fat and know that my diet isn't terrible but Im wondering is it bareable for what I want to do ie lose fat?

    Breakfast : Porridge With Glass of Orange Juice
    Snack: Almonds
    Lunch: Bowl Of Soup
    Dinner: Chicken Curry with carrots and sweet corn
    Snack: Apple or 2 rich tea with nutella:D
    Supper: 2 slices of wholemeal McCambridge brown bread with low fat butter and 2 Danones.

    I know its not perfect but will i survive on a diet and lose weight considering I will be weight training 3 days a week and HIIT cardio twice a week??

    You won't loose weight if you eat the same thing all the time. Fact: your body gets used to routine and adapts. This is also true for exercise.

    You need to mix things up alot. Plenty of veg - stir fries, roasted, steamed, salads etc.

    Orange juice - high in calories. Eat whole orange instead to get fibre

    Almonds and all nuts are good for you but high in fat so you should be snacking on fruit. The truth is, if you are really hungary you will it.

    Be careful that the soup has not got cream in it - eg cream of vegetable

    Some curries contain large amounts of oil so be aware of the ingredients

    snack 2 - forget the biscuit and choc

    Try to avoid bread.

    The main thing is lots of veg and lean meat - protein helps to fill you up.

    comments as follows:

    swap the orange juice for a whole oranage or apple etc, the porridge is fine

    the snack is fine

    the soup could be super healthy or total crap so you need to tell us what type of soup and is it home made etc.

    chicken curry might be okay if you were to include more veg ...

    one observation, do you REALLY need that much food after dinner i.e. biscuits, bread, danones? If you want to eat wholegrain bread have it for breakfast or lunch ....

    Yeah, the reasoning being that it will give you slow release energy throughout the day. At night you do not really need to energy for bed, I go to sleep easier if not full of energy. 6 ryvitas are about the same cals as 2 slices of mc cambridges, you could have 2 ryvitas topped with cottage cheese or cream cheese if you really want a carb/bread fix.

    Try and swop it for a more high protein meal at night. Also be wary of your portions, sweetcorn packs a lot of calories

    Cool thanks for the advice..

    Soup - Is usually homemake chicken soup made with onions, carrots, chicken stock and bones of the chicken.

    Also would i be able to switch the almonds snack for a ONE Slice of while bread and low fat butter? I would really enjoy 1 slice of white bread with low fat butter more than 2 wholemeal pieces?

    Ill cut the biscuits and nutella..

    Is the Danones ok??

    Also forgot for a snack I sometimes have A danone and about 30G of Raisins

    Op, it all boils down to your level of activity, how much weight you have to drop and your portion sizes - if i want to drop body fat then danones, white bread and biscuits would be out, period...

    Never knew Danones were bad?? interesting.. Sound sur ill keep to the wholemeal mccambridges brown bread

    So Im doing good on the diet but just wondering about something. I know I was told to cut white bread . Before I started the diet i used to be having white bread every day probably 4 slices a day.

    Now im eating mccambridge bread most of the time. But im wondering How much of an impact it would have to eat white bread once a week, 3 slices. I be willing have my progress slow down a small bit but can't see how once a week would make big impact.

    Also I made these chicken goujons http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055228900. Very nice , I imagine very healthy especially for protein as you use and egg and pure chicken! Thanks

    Also whats the tastiest way to cook veg for someone who doesn't eat much veg at all. For some veg the smell completly turns me off!!

    ive noticed that most of your posts seem to be about asking is "this bad for me" - you know the answer, while bread, choc drinks, processed food etc are all bad, if you only eat all bad foods once a week you could still be eatting rubbish every day! most of the folks on here are also unlikely to tell you that any of that is good!
    you need to change away from the mind set that you are depriving yourself but cutting out junk like white bread, otherwise you will always be wanting some

    If I was going to eat simple carbs I would go for something tasty, like chocolate. I remember a mate of mine saying how he much preferred white toast over brown, but I view them as different things completely, I view it in the same category as most junk I would eat. I lift weights and for recovery purposes it is recommended you eat protein and simple carbs straight afterwards, so I save up my simple carbs until that time. At least they go to some use and it curbs my cravings which I would otherwise give into at the "wrong time". Many people do have "cheat days", but I personally view white bread as a waste, since it is bland some think it is not too bad, but it is basically just processed muck.

    thanks for that reply..I tried cambridge bread and was surprised i really liked it. but the thing is that it doesn't fill me up. Im wondering is their any other good wholemeal bread thats healthy. If not mite just try and give it up completely.

    Also i understand cream crackers aren't the best but what are they like every now and again as a snack with tea??

    I was looking for an answer on the homemake breaded goujons??

    I use iceberg lettuce as a wrap. Tonight I had another pizza with a mince beef base!, some other poster called it meatzza :pac: It is basically a big thin burger with a pizza topping. I get tesco lean mince (~3.5% fat) It is actually lower in cals than a normal base of the same weight.

    Crackers are pretty bad, and again some think they are "not too bad", due to them being bland, but with all these foods just pick up 2 items and compare them side by side, crackers are really not much better than biscuits, and like the white bread if I am going to be naughty I would go the whole hog and just eat biscuits or chocolate, no point fooling yourself. Noodles are another one that people presume is not too bad. The crackers will not have as much sugar as a normal biscuit, but it has about the same fat and in place of the sugar they are just using more white flour. So in the end of the day you are getting the same amount of simple carbs, similar insulin spikes, so you may aswell be eating something you truly like.

    Ryvitas are a far better choice, most varietys have no wheat, and are wholegrain. 3 ryvitas have the same weight & cals as a single slice of mc-cambridges, and it looks and seems far more substantial. There is a much greater surface on them so you can fit more toppings on them. The sesame ones are really nice.

    I had "ryvita pizzas" for a snack earlier on. You can get nonstick thin black sheets called "magic sheets" in some supermarkets, usually with the tinfoil, nothing sticks to them. I put tomato puree on the ryvitas and then put slices of low fat cheese on top and press it in so it sticks, then I put the magic sheet on a dry frying pan and put the ryvitas on, cheese side down and cook them. The cheese cooks up nicely and heats the puree and ryvita itself.

    I make some of them really thick and with raisins in them, you can then store them away and pop them in the toaster, would be a far better choice with your cup of tea, they are sort of like scones.
