    well do you ?

e.g my dad is friends with the guy who own's BB's, a waste company and the guy who owns the Irish A1 racing car..

but my da does not own any companys.

Do you own a company ?

What is it and where ?

    and is it big ?

but most importantly did the recession really effect it at all ??? and i sacked people dosent count as an answer... you sack then need the staff that are there to do more hours.. same thing.

    Hi Robbie,

I own a play centre in the north, in a building about 10.000 square foot. I kicked it off about Mrach 2008... The 5 year business plan I put in place was running perfect until the crunch hit and people tighten up there belts completely....we are barely surving and the next three months will be make or break for us...so yes the big "R" can hit hard and it has just landed a upper cut to my chin...

The recession has affected me in ways that are hard to describe, unless I use big words and use them to good effect.

And I have sacked people, by that I mean let people go due to the downturn, but (luckily?) due to said downturn in business the work they did does not have to be covered by the remaining staff, because if that was the case I would not have had to let them go.

Am I confusing you? You confused me!

I've read the thread a few times, just in case I'm missing something obvious, but there appears to be no point to it at all? In fact the more I think about it the more it makes my head hurt.

    You own Wotif Holdings Limited?

I assume the op wanted to know if anyone here owned a company or had any prctical experience with company ownership or knew anything about company ownership. And judging by the smartass replies, the answer appears to be no.

God no ..none of us own a business or have any knowledge what so ever about it..we just loiter around here for the fun of it..on the other hand my dad is friends with the guy who own's 50 BB's, 7 waste companies and the guy who owns the Irish A1 racing car team..

Oh and he has shares in WTF Enterprises..not to be confused with Wotif Holdings LTD...or GTF Enterprises... :D

That's exactly how it looks to a first time poster. Not one constructive comment in this thread.

There are plenty more informative thread on here with people asking proper questions..also there are plenty of thread where people are in the well, Hammertime being on of them and answer any number of questions on their business. This thread doesnt seem to have any reason or substance behind it and if it was anytime during the year would look like a kids school project as someone commented.

Maybe if the OP had come in and said im setting up a company, i need advice..who else has one and asked some questions people would give advice.
But coming in saying..for instance my da is friends with a guy who owns a few companies but he doesnt own any, what about your da?? Or do you own one, is it big? And last but not least..you sack then need the staff that are there to do more hours.. same thing...what exactly does that mean, how is that the same thing??

    Anyways you get the point..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,451 ✭✭✭Onikage

Yeah, I get your point. Do you get mine? So the OP's not the most articulate? That's a valid reason to make a joke of him? Not everyone in business has had the benefit of an education. And comments like this don't make me think competent, knowledgeable, helpful:

I dont think anyone is making a joke out of him. the WTF means in simple english as; what does this mean .. to the post that does not make much sense .. and the result is the poster writes back with another post in the clear.
