If its for hunting then small is easy to carry for prolonged times.
Try this for size and weight!

I've an MTC Viper 4-16x50 on mine. Their SCB reticle is very useful for .22lr shooting as it's got many aim points with which you can use for the .22lr's loopy trajectory.

My brother-in-law in U.S. knew I was looking for a scope for .22LR and he rang telling me that RifleOptics were doing a promotion....selling off Simmons Whitetail Classic 6 - 20 X 50 scopes for €90 (€83).....I knew 2 lads who each had one of these on a centrefire & they were very happy with them....told him to buy it a send it over.....couldn't have got a better deal here....even for something with a lot less power.

I usually leave it on 7-8 power but the extra magnification is handy when sighting in to check bullet holes!

I had a 8-32x60 on top - way to much scope.

What I have now is this Bushnell 3200 Elite 10x40 with target turrets and it does the job very well. I use the turrets to range the target using a drop chart for the different distances out to 140m but better up to the 100m range.

    Here's the 22lr drop chart

I use a 4 x 32 with fine simplex reticle, no problems at all.
I don't like over scoping rifles, it interferes with the balance and carry of the rifle.
Plus with big Obj. lenses the scope is sitting way up and I would need a longer neck.

I was shooting rabbits yesterday evening using Hawke sports scope. As soon it was getting a bit darker (after 8pm) it was difficult to see the bunnies. Are there any good night scopes available, or do I need to invest in a lamp?

Get better glass for dusk/dawn stuff. A lamp is useful in the dark.:)

yeah, would the Bushnell be a good one, or any other ones in mind?

Are you having trouble seeing the rabbits or the reticle? If it is the former probably a better scope, the latter could be sorted with either an illuminated ret. or my preference the Firefly reticle from Bushnell that uses a small torch to charge the luminous material. I operate the KISS principle.:D
