Just noticed that the Biggest Loser Australia is now being shown on TV3 at half three.

Thought I'd let all the dieters here know as sometimes I find those programmes great for a little bit of motivation!

Ok, don't listen to me!!! I had never watched the programme, I watched other ones similar to it and a friend suggested it was quite good!

Eh! The madness that was going on in that programme! Here they are, trying to lose weight. One task today involved putting platters in front of them, all hidden. They could choose a platter if they wanted it and underneath there was either a little prize, immunity for the week or FOOD! Like a big burger and chips and chocolate cake. And they had to eat the food if they got it! Now can anyone tell me what the point of a horrible task like that is in a programme encouraging people to get healthy!?

    Madness!

Pure voyeurism. I happened to catch the American version of the show myself the other day- the principles of what they are trying to do is good (aside from the mental torture!) but a lot of them lose way too much weight too fast, even taking into account the fact that some of them are extremely overweight to begin with.

I must admit I found it enjoyable as car crash TV though!

The hilarious thing is that they promote low-fat diets and lots of exercise.

In the meantime, a few ex-contestants have admitted nearly all contestants on the American show are on a low carb diet in order to clock up the drastic losses each week.

as someone who is on a weight/fat loss journey I must say I do find their attitudes motivating.... I've often thought **** it and then seen a show like gillian poopyheads or biggest loser and picked my mood up again...
It is car crash tv and I didnt get the object of that food temptation thing especially when they got a junk food prize that they were forced to eat it.

I watched this version of The Biggest Loser when i was living in Australia. Thought it was great. It motivated myself and housemates to get off the couch and go running/walking straight after the show finished. Such a guilty pleasure coz in reality its total crap but it was a real hit in our house all the same!:D
