Overthinking The World

    Hi

I have an issue. That is, I am too much a thinker and not enough a doer. I have a problem with getting into action. I am trying to change my life right now, make moves in a job and hopefully move to dublin with a career that I really want too. I guess I know in a way how to proceed. My problem with all of this and life in general is ..I overthink things which puts stress and pressure on myself. That further translates on me not being able to live my life the way I want and putting pressure on other people. Not being comfortable to talk to other people as a result of this pressure. Its all in my head, and I can't do anything to stop it really at the moment. I need to learn to not overthink too much I believe but it is difficult.

I know.. the term 'get over yourself' comes to mind :-p hehe

Well, am I making sense? Is this something that has affected anyone else in a similar way?

I'd appreciate any comments, advice or chat. Thanks very much.

    hello,

my advice is that maybe you are thinking of too many things at once.

Tackle one thing at a time. Make a list of all the things you want to do, and break them down into little jobs. And do a couple each day.

Like job search for 15 minutes. Do up your cv for 15 mins. Look up accomadation etc.

Try and make progress with little steps rather than picturing where you want to end up and feeling low with how far away it seems.

Also exercise to perk yourself up and that will in turn give you more energy for these things.

The brain is full of pixies - each one a thought. You cant just leave the front door open. You need to put those ****ers on a leash and take them for a walk in turns.

If that makes any sense to you.

Lists are a very simple way to keep track of what you need to prioritize. Im talking simple bullet points, like on saturday my post-it was

    Laundry
    Bank
    Dishes
    Mop Floor
    Haircut

Just like that. Keep it simple. You can really **** up these lists by

    Wakeup
    Make Coffee
    Eat Breakfast

That kinda **** you just dont need to write down. The point of a list is to order what you have to do that day, and not what you can do that day.

When you need to list things in advance, use a wall calendar to remember appointments and all that.

Ive tried doing this all on computer before, and its just a pain in the ass. The Paper Method is much quicker, easier to access and writing is much better for memory retention.

If you need any more help, I'd also reccomend a 1 hour counseling session. It really helps to just offload on someone, especially someone who will know exactly how to help you order your own thoughts, like a counselor will.
