DartPro issues and possible solutions

As the title suggests this thread is to post up issues we are having with darts pro and if anyone can help resolve these issue please post them up here , Thanks.

    I found this on another darts forum and it may help our problems;

"After struggling for a period, I finally sorted my DartPro issues such that now I can host games as a server. Here are a few things that I picked up along the way which some of you may find useful.

    1. When making configuration changes to your wireless router, always make configuration changes using a computer that is hard wired to your wireless router. Do not make changes from a wireless connection. This comes from a NetGear technical advisor on the Netgear website. I was researching how to do Port Forwarding on my NetGear router when I stumbled across this advice. All I know is that I took his advice and my problems are now sorted. Before, I was making changes from different computers which were wirelessly connected to the router. The change looked as if it saved correctly, but it never worked properly.

    2. If you have a firewall and you have DartPro installed and running on your machine, you probably already have the DartPro program registered to your firewall. Rather than try to edit the firewall entry for DartPro, just delete the firewall entry for DartPro. Now, the next time you run DartPro, the firewall will alert you and ask if it is OK to allow DartPro to run using the resources it is asking for. Your firewall will see that DartPro wants to use port 47141. Give DartPro permanent rights to perform this action.

    3. Let's say you have a laptop and you want to use DartPro from this laptop while the laptop is wi-fi connected to your wireless router. Basically, you want your laptop to be the DartPro server when you host games across the internet on DartPro. The trick here is that when you configure your wireless router (see Step 1.), you must create a rule which opens port 47141 on ....THE IP ADDRESS OF YOUR LAPTOP WHEN IT IS WIRELESSLY CONNECTED TO YOUR ROUTER!

I hope this helps me and others with the problems we are having :)

Ok i thought i had fixed my problem but it's still not working.
I too had a new router installed and checked the IP address and its still the same as when i set the static IP up .
After reading up on the problem at hand i set up a new static on my laptop as i had previously set one up on the desktop in my living room.
I deleted the nat settings for dartpro and reset them up and allowed the computer to tell me that an application was trying to connect to my laptop thriough my firewall , then i allowed the program through the firewall and created a rule so that anytime dartpro connects to my laptop it must go through the static IP i created for the laptop and it must use only port 47141.
On the Dartpro website there is an option you can click on to check if the port is open , its called "canyouseeme".
Tried this and it came back saying that it couldnt see me therefore it is saying that my port 47141 is not open.
Having done all this i tried it out with AndyP but he still couldnt connect to my game.
I read ciarraibhoy's post earlier about the fault lying with the Server and not the client when a connection cant be made due to the server not having set up Dartpro correctly, so i ask anyone out there on Boards "CAN YOU HELP ME" ??

What is your firewall setting, if it is set on medium set it to low

It is set to low mate. I just spent the last half hour on the portforward website and after going through all they said to i checked to see if my port was open with their "portchecker" program and it is now OPEN hurray.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 831 ✭✭✭Daffy501

Whats the difference?? I checked port 47141 TCP and its open. I didnt check the other one though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 945 ✭✭✭padr81

dunno, just wondering why one was open and one closed when they are both set to be open.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 831 ✭✭✭Daffy501

it must be TCP port open

UDP is not what dartpro operates on

Seems like a lot of people are having trouble with their Dartpro. I will have a look at any solutions when I get home and try and help people out.

I'm thinking the Darts League might have to be put on hold until we can get it sorted out?

mine is not working at all and it used to. did just about everything possible, set up a static ip, logged into router and opened port 47141 both tcp and udp or whatever they are called, when i check it says the udp is open but tcp is closed.

Sound about right except for the UDP thing , according to Dionsiseire you should only have TCP open as thats the only one Dartpro uses.

are you using the computer wirelessly?? If so then a technician on Netgear says you should make the changes to the router while connected by cable only

Its all in the first post of this thread bud , have a wee look if you didnt

I'm sure it is better to do the changes when connected directly although it's not vital because I managed to set mine up by using my wireless connection.

Haven't used mine in a good few weeks though so I have no idea if it's still working. Will check later.

tried everything thing ports still not open, interestingly my ip adress when i check it doesn't match the static ip address i set up, anyone know why? Im using an eircom netopia router.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 831 ✭✭✭Daffy501

SUCCESS i have just hosted my first ever game on dartpro so thats me up and running i hope. As Dionsiseire pointed out it was my port 47141 not being open that was my problem.
I urge any one who is having a problem to go onto portforward.com and go thriugh the portforward setup again then download their program "PfPortchecker" and see if their port is open. Make sure you DONT have dartspro open when using this checker !!

Start here http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm and select your router and follow on screen instructions.

Ok lads for anyone having problems setting up a static IP follow this link and do exactly what it says
    http://portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm

And for anyone wanting to forward their port 47141 follow this link and again do exactly what it says

    http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm

Both these links are for any router and for xp/vista so everyone should be able to set up dartpro from this

And again if you are having any problems at all no matter how small send me a PM with either your MSN name or SKYPE name and i will help ye out (as best i can:D)
