Missing Icons on 3gs

My safari icon has gone missing from my 32gig 3gs, and some of the icons for the apps are mixed up (skype has the wunder radio icon for example)

Any idea how to fix this without doing a restore? or is it just simply a case of having to restore it?

As for Safari going missing, check if it is restricted in Settings > General > Restrictions.

This seems to be a known issue with the 3GS, often following a hard reset or an app that crashes. It's a 3.0 bug. People are suggesting a restore will only last a few days before the icons start getting mixed up again. If you are jailbroken, apparently a respring will sort it out. If not, you could try this:

'There is a way to fix this. You have to delete one of the apps that is messing up from your iPhone (preferably a free one that doesn't have any information stored that you don't want to lose). Then go back to the App Store on your iPhone, and redownload the application you just deleted. Once is starts downloading click on the app icon to pause the download process, then turn off your phone only using the slider (not a hard reset). Turn your iPhone back on and finish the download. This should fix the icons for all of the apps. At least it has been working for me'

Sounds a bit black magicky but some people are saying it works !

it does sound a bit black magicky! :D

i know it's not the end of the world, but it is kinda annoying. as for safari i loaded it up through search, added a website to my homescreen so i can now access it through that

in an even weirder turn of events, after plugging it into the pc, the safari icon appeared on a page all on its own!
