EWTD - What's happening on the ground?

So as far as I can gather, the EWTD is due to have been in place for about a week and a half now.

I've relocated to Queensland and the relative luxury of having 17 consultants, 10 registrars and 20 residents in an Emergency Dept, with consultant cover until things have died down at night - and it's not unheard for them to stay in most of the night. It was also pretty strange having such an emphesis placed on education and teaching on my first day! They're also MEGA strict on us working 40 hours a week and 40 hours only, medical admin won't hear of it if we wanted to swap into a 10 hour shift from an 8 hour one.

I've seen on Facebook that people are still doing whole weekend call (in one case, a medical SpR in a fairly large country hospital). I'm also still getting updates from the IMO regarding the implementation of the directive.

So I'm just wondering what it's like for people still in Ireland? Are you still doing crazy overtime? Is there any hint that we'll be going down the UK route where indirect pressure in placed on doctors to lie about their hours.

I only a know one intern.

Her working hours seem okish. Way better than I expected. But when she's on call she has to work all day, all night and then all the next day. She's only had to do it once or twice so far though.

Sorry, if my information is largely informationless. I'm not (and will not be for quite some time) working as intern myself so everything I know comes from others.

my dad is a SHO but hasnt started work yet has been on holiday since the EWTD came in (he'll be in a 4 person rota with i think its supposed to be that 1 person will always be on holiday and 3 people working), but i was talking to one of his friends whos in waterford, as a registrar, hes been working i think it was like 12 hour shifts, (didnt really get the way he explained it) and you cant do a whole weekend. i think he can do like friday and sunday or something, but its not being enforced fully, and i think the place where my dad works, its not possible as of now.

As far as I can see, there has been absolutely no change in the hospital I'm working in.

Seeing as the NCHDs have had their conditions changed according to the agreement and there has been very little changed in terms of EWTD are the HSE not compliant with the high court agreement?
