1.7 litre is an Isuzu engine afaik which are very reliable. 1.9 litre diesel is a Fiat Multi-jet unit which is one of the best in the business. 1.9 litre 16 valve version has 150bhp which is pretty quick for a diesel of that size, definately my choice of the two.

I was going to buy one of these new 3 years ago. In the end I didn't because of production delays.

The SRi is definitely the one to get.

you may save by importing a car from the north but if you import a vauxhall, most dealers wont touch it if you go to trade it in. im pretty sure no opel garage would anyway and it devaules the car by a couple of grand compared to the equivlant opel. i use to work in an opel garage and although you havent got a leg to stand on when someone says "sure i can go up the north", when they said they were going to get a vauxhall, the response was somewhat different.

if your buying to drive it into the ground or until its practically worthless then go ahead, but if your going to change it in the next few years then think again.

a lot of irish people will not buy a vauxhall over an opel. beggars belief really but its fact
