2 Lines in the Euro Millions in Portugal costs €4.
2 Lines in the Euro Millions + in Ireland costs €6.
The extra €2 gives you a chance to win €500,000 is it worth it.
Is doing the Lotto a fools game.

I don't think so. The odds of winning the Euromillions is huge and the tickets are overpriced. I prefer to stick with the Irish Lotto.

I agree, I wouldn't bother with the Euromillions. You have a better chance of gettin hit by a falling pig

Why not pay it in the bookies ?

You can play as much or as little as you like and the odds are way better than 5 4 3 2 1.

    eg 2 numbers 30/1

Lotto (euro & Irish) pay out approx. 40% of inclome in winnings

Bookies pay out approx 85% of income in winnings

Casinos pay out approx 95% of income in winnings

Lotto is the bigest mugs game there is, my sister spends 9 eur per week on it and then she complains that she doesnt have much money and cant go on a holiday, well if she gave up the lotto she would have 470 extra per year which would go to a nice package holiday to somewhere in the sun, the mind boggles it really does, i just cant stand people complaining about having no money if they smoke or play the Lotto.

Take for example the millionaire game, which is easy to quantify as the ticket sales are capped. 300,000 at twenty quid a pop. They sell six million worth of tickets, and payout 3.6 mil in prizes. Thats a hell of a profit for one summer promotion, which is additional to the main draws. The odds for this draw are as follows:
    €1,000,000 - 1 in 150,000
    €100,000 - 1 in 60,000
    €10,000 - 1 in 6,667
    €5,000 - 1 in 3,750
    €1,000 - 1 in 3,000
    €500 - 1 in 1,000

    So yes. A mugs game.

What about all the profits they make that get pumped back in to local sports and arts? This "tax" to keep the young girls and boys active is well well worth it.

How is it a rip off when it cost the same in Portugal?

    That's like saying
One bar of cholate costs a euro in portugal
But two bars of chocolate cause 2 euro in ireland.....

They don't Make you buy the plus :) And also you can just buy one line for 2 euro without the plus
