Well no, but that's where i see myself in 12 years time if i don't do something about it. Im in a dead end job and going nowhere and my family just uses me for everything they can get out of me and well im just sick of it. I got a car a few years ago for a bit of independence. That was a joke, my family saw me as a taxi. I had enough of it when one of them rang me for a lift and didn't even bother to show up.

So what was i meant to do? Put up with it? Being used, being stuck in a job i hate, getting money from that job and only to run a car to escort other people's asses? Being in debt and possibly being stuck at home at 40 with no life and no career???

That wasn't for me, so i applied to go back to college away from home, so im getting up from this place and i intend on staying away. I have gotten rid of my car cause i don't want the expense of a car when in college (my family was not happy when i done this, they wanted me to get another one with my savings for college), i have cleared all my debts and i have enough saved to last me 2 or 3 months and im moving in a few weeks.

And now i am shting it. Im going to have to search for every type of job for the evening and weekends just to survive. I have been to college already, so this time i am on my own, im not entitled to the grant. But i don't know where to start searching for work in such an unfamilair place. Is it possible to get work, the only thing i hear about, jobs are being lost, what place would be taking them on? And with more students battling for a job, how do i get one?

Are there people that were in a similar position? Are there always going to be student jobs, eg in cinemas, bars, shops, cleaning toilets etc? Are there still jobs out there where people on the dole are better off by not taking them?

I haven't been in this position so doubt I can offer any useful advice, but just want to say good on you for furthering yourself and making the effort to make a change in your life - don't be scared, persevere and don't let your family hold you back - you're doing the right thing :)

You're putting yourself out there to try and get away from a bad situation. It's not going to be easy, but you've got the right attitude. Best of luck.

    Op,

First of all, congratulations for getting off your ass to try change your life around. I think you have made the right choice.

There are still places taking on, i've seen pubs, cinemas and shops advertising lately so just get your cv out there and keep sending it to different places until you get something.

I really wish you all the best, theres a lot of people complaining and not doing anything about it so fair play to you.

    Yes my apologies.

I would say however on the jobs front, anything is better than being on the dole other than "comission only" jobs which you may come across.

Ive being on stamps for the last 6 months and ive just got a job, wages are terrible, but being on the dole doesnt help ones self confidence
