clearing out the attic and found our old polaroid camera.

i was just wondering if there is anywhere in Dublin still selling film for it?

Is there a generic film that can be used , i've looked online and the film seems very expensive.

    Cheers

    Eoin

polaroid film stopped being made, the last expire batch was august. theres talk of fuji taking that niche market and will try and reproduce their own 600 film, starting with black and white in jan apparently, rumour has it.

Have a look here . They are trying to create their own films and want to be ready for production in 2010.

?? I don't think there's any talk of fuji producing 600. You're probably mixing it up with the impossible project. Fuji already make instax film, which is similar to the pola integral films (600 and spectra) but in-compatible. They also make a range of peel-apart instant films which are a drop in replacement for the polaroid materials.

older camera shops such as Gunns or Dublin Camera Exchange might have it...I'll ask them tomorrow for ya if you like :)

no i know about the impossible project and peel apart instant films for pack film polaroid cameras (300b, 100c, 1000b) but i also have seen a few things on the internet about rumours about fuji maybe picking up the patent. personally i think someone will. i have a pack film polaroid camera and a 600 model and i'd be more upset if fuji hadn't already been making their own pack film tbh.

depending on the model it's likely that it'll take 600 film, that's the stuff that polaroid stopped making and that the impossible project is all about. You can buy it in gunns but it's 20 quid for 10 shots, so think carefully before pressing that button!

also, you shouldn't buy it, because then there'll be more left for me. mwuhahahaha.

got some in a local Chemist, 23 euros for a roll of 10 - my conversion to film will be difficult in this current economic mess

Last time I was in boots in rathmines they had twin packs (20 shots) for €30. I presume other boots are the same if any of them still have it in stock.

In fairness, polaroid was always more expensive than shooting non-instant film, and it's just been getting worse since it was discontinued. I've stopped shooting it because of the expense.

If you want to shoot instant then look into packfilm, pick up an inexpensive camera from EBay and buy fuji instant film. Or alternatively look into getting an Instax, Fuji's version of the integral (600) films. The fuji Instax film is cheaper than 600 film and is allegedly of better picture quality.

Ah polapremium :) Thats a whole other discussion in and of itself. They're half of the crowd behind the impossible project. I cannot believe they're still managing to sell "artistic tz" for €20 a pop though. I guess people really will buy anything ...

the crazy thing for me, is a roll of 10 , is more expensive than the camera itself - done a bit of experimenting - there is a quirky feal to it , with nice colours

Dont know if people have already seen this but Urban Outfitters are now selling polaroid cameras and film in conjunction with "The Impossible Project".

Its probably a good thing in the long run cos the more exposure (excuse the pun) it gets the more likely it is that the film will become widely available again but unfortunately the prices are usual Urban Outfitters nonsense.
