    Hi all,
I'm thinking of spending €1000 under the bike for work scheme. I haven't a clue abour bikes, and would love your input. I have a Specilised MTB and want to go for a race bike as I'd like to get into it maybe with some triathalons in the future. Naturally the budget won't get me something amazing, just something that if I did go triathlons/road training that it could be used as a starter?
My question is what would you buy, or what have you around yourself that price that you would recommend? Links to good websites for online deals etc.?
    Thanks,
    CF

It seems that the more often that question is asked here the less helpful the replies become. This is understandable.

My advice would be to read through some of the (many) previous "i need a road bike" type threads, look at some LBSs and internet shops (wiggle, evans, chianreactioncycles, etc) and come back to this thread when you have some more specific query. This or this? What does this mean? that sort of thing. The responses will me more and better.

There is very good advice to be had around here

As mentioned check the websites first and see what you like, then post some links to your favourites:

Review sites like BikeRadar are also handy as they allow you to compare directly between different bikes if you choose to "sort by rating" to give you an idea of what is good and what is bad.
