Would like to know when I should thank the Priest during my speech?

Here''s the first few lines of my speech:

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, My name is John and I've the honour of standing up here as Darren's best man.
I would like to thank Darren for his kind words...etc
A special word of thanks to father Gerry Smith for a wonderful ceremony.

On behalf of the bride and groom i would like to thank.....etc etc....

Is this a standard way for irish wedding or is there anything i should/shouldn't do?

I know there are no set rules...but I'd like to get the introductions right.

    thanks

I think you've basically got a good formula there. I don't think it really matters the order in which you thank people, as long as you name everyone.

You might just ask the bride and groom separately if there's anyone they would like to thank. I think the bride normally doesn't make a speech of her own (although it's getting more common now) so you could ask her if there's anyone you can thank on her behalf?

    Possible people to thank:
    Bridesmaids
Anyone who has travelled to be there
Anyone who made or did something specific eg. if a family member or friend made the cake / took the photo's / did the flowers etc

You're the best man, you don't thank anyone unless the groom has forgotten someone :)

The groom thanks the hotel and the bridesmaids and groomsmen and suppliers and that.
