Whats the best/favourite car you have owned?(for your own reasons!)

Be it you first car, your current car or a car you owned a couple of years ago.

Mine is my old '98 Peugeot 306 1.4l Meridian. I was my first car, never broke down and was great fun to drive. I had it for three years before i 'upgraded' but I still think back on how much i liked that car!

    Whats yours?

Strangly enough it was a Rover 214SEi, I bought it when I was 20, kept it 6 years. Loved it. Have never had a car over a year since, have had an SS2 Celica, a Prelude, a 2005 Mondeo as a company car, a Rover 600, a Rover 400 and currently an old Merc 250 diesel, the 214SEi was just great :D. And no in those 6 years and over 100K miles the headgasket never went folks :)

Mine was a Saab 9000 2.3 Aero which I owned about 15 years ago and I still miss to this day :(

E30 316i coupe with wide wheels. I had a great time in that car, although I was 22 at the time so that might have had something to do with it.:pac:

Mine is my current car bmw e34 518i. Yes its big gutless barge and my licence has just been taken off me but I just love the way it looks (and drove when I could that is!).

1992 Audi 80. Great car at the time and probably still is. Had it in year 2000 while at college and loved it. 2.0L petrol engine wasnt up to much powerwise but was bulletproof.

Current car without a doubt. 08 Golf GT - miss it too. Looking forward to going home to it.

First car was a second hand 00 Golf 1.4 "comfortline" I bought in 03.

I miss my old "Burgandy Dog" a '91 SRi Cavalier I had for 8 years. The tinworm got into the back chassis and it was game over...!

I got it with 88k and drove it till there was 234k on it.. Not bad for a 2ltr petrol... I couldnt stand the thought of it going to someone else who was going to mistreat her so while the parents were getting their house built I got the digger man to dig a big hole and bury it under the front lawn..!

I know I know but it was an emotional thing...!

Alfasud Sprint 1.5 veloce sprint. The chrome bumper version.

Wonderful flat four engine with twin weber carbs.
Fun, not that quick compared to cars now but just great handling and steering feedback.

I really liked my last car (04 Focus). It had an underpowered engine, that new fangled sunroof that opened on its own (but only in the rain), dodgy central locking...But the steering and gear change were brilliant for a car like that:D

In order of my favourites that i have owned

    2000 E39 Bmw M5 400bhp whats not to love :D 19MPG

or as a realistic car i had a 2005 E90 Bmw 330i 258BHP economical and fast lovely to drive 32MPG

or as totally sensible a 2004 320d 150BHP loved it was my second ever car and im sorry i sold it 49 MPG

For me it has to be a '88 Citroen AX GT, that I bought for 250 euro (with a rotten one thrown in as well)

It was bloody brillant - typical French hot hatch handling (lift off oversteer central), no weight, took the most unmercyful pounding on night navigation trials and over Ballaghbeama Gap and was bloody great fun to drive. I'm glossing over the noise, appetite for exhausts and coils, blown crankshaft seals, blown valve stem oil seals, clutch issues, lack of soundproofing (my fault - a poor weight loss effort) and the fact that it wasn't watertight.

I should never have sold it as the new owner cooked the engine on a night nav, right where I was manning a control:mad:

Every car has it's own merrits, but one of my clear favourites that I had was my '04 Volvo C70 Convertible.

thumb_img_1121.jpg (right in the picture, obviously).

    It's not a Volvo, it's a sporty car :)

best car i ever owned was a peugeot 406, had 185k when i bought it and neve gave me any hastle, although ive had sum bad cars, letme list all my cars.

95 mazda 323 familia hatch - nippy but so basic, ran it into a wall and kept going lol

99 seat ibiza - really basic, slow and failed the nct lol

98 rennault megan - one of the worse, kept breaking down and exhaust fell out from under it on a motorway lol

92 bmw 316- terrible car, everything imaginable happened to it, when i sold it the ecu blew up lol

89 toyota starlet - was really abused but strangely reliable and nippy lol

00 peugeot 406 - excellent car, should never have sold it lol

99 alfa gtv - was a great little car but ya couldnt fit an infant in the back of it so i had to swap it.

98 merc e240 v6 - still driving it, a dream to drive but extortinatly expensive to fuel up and tax so gotta sell it.

94 celica st202 - piece of crap, failed the nct on emmisions, had o2 sensor replaced 2 times and found out i needed a cat, its lying up now gathering dust lol.

i really gotta find a nice reliable car lol

I've loved almost all of them. My favourites would be the Lancia Fulvia 1.3 sport, the Delta integrale 8v, the Porsche 911 3.2 carrera cabriolet, and my current Forester. Strangely enough, the car that exceeded my expectations by the largest margin was a 1996 Peugeot 406 2.0.

Only car I ever regret having sold was a '94 Audi Quattro 2.8. Very subtle looking car, british racing green with cream leather interior and all the bells and whistles. Handled like a go-kart and seriously quick. Very thirsty little jammer though. Want it back - can't find another one like it! Closest I came to finding one similar was a nice tasty royal blue S2 but it had more than likely had the stones driven out of it so I let it go..........

My 1st car a 1L 1998 VW polo, bought it about 4 years ago now had it 6 months when a little knacker recreating a scene from 'Bullet' in his ****bucket Starlet wrote it off when he came rocketing from a side street into my little polo.

I paid about €3000 for it, it had 30k on the clock and looked like it had just rolled out of the showroom. Really was a mint little car.

The best car i own would be a 1978 Ford Escort mk2 me & my dad co-own. We've had it a few years and to my shame have done little with it, it needs quite a bit of work and I've never had the pleasure of driving it but someday  Dont have a pic but its not too dissimilar to this one.

ive never heard anyone bad mouth peugeot, theyre a massivly under rated car, almost bullet proof, and strangely french cars have a bad name lol.

odd tho isnt it, peugeot and citron are basically the same brand yet citrons are massivly unreliable? lol

I completely agree. Peugeot tends to be reliable. Citroen, I've seen nothing but trouble with.

Maybe they give the guys on the Citroen assembly line just too much wine :)

We've got a Citroen Dispatch in the company and it's in for repairs every 2 months. Just mad. None of our VW's have those kindda issues.

My first car wasn't the best car i've had but i miss it the most, i was a student and it was the perfect car, a 1ltr TD Diahatsu Charade, would run on the smell of diesel, and never gave me any trouble until one ill fated trip down the country, i was checking over the car before i left and must have put a tool sitting on the wire running to the fan, of course it pulled the wire out, coupled with the fact i had the dash out the day before and didn't hook up the temp gauge after i put it back in, the rest is history.
Had no money and sold it for €400, such a mistake:mad:.

    Best car was a 94 MR2.
