    Hi

I have an issue with anxiety- public speaking, groups, certain people etc. I dont think counting to 10, breathing, relaxing etc or rescue remedy works. Ive had this years and Im looking for something a little more hardcore...If anyone has managed to get rid of or alleviate panic attacks, can you let me know? or if anyone has a recommendation for a counsellor in the Dublin area-or has used or heard of someone good for something like anxeity can you pm me please?

    Thanks for your help

I used to suffer from panic attacks all the time - most days, or at least several times a week.

I still get them now - they never really go away, they can always pop back for a visit when you're stressed - but only once every few months and they're not nearly as bad.

I found the book When Panic Attacks by Dr Aine Tubridy very helpful. TBH I skipped most of her chapters on breathing techniques and energies and stuff, because like you I felt I needed something more hardcore, but understand what was going on physically really helped. Also if you have a sympathetic GP, seeing them might help. My GP was great when I had them.

take up a sport or somthing like karate which requires concentration and it will help settle your attacks.when your not at karate and if you feel one coming on think about the concentration you had for karate or whatever and it works.you also get to meet new people.

    Hey there OP,

PM me and I will give you the name of my therapist who has helped me get through panic attacks. I thought I was going crazy, but he has helped me sooooooo much, and I know I can cope. You will be able to too!

    A x

    Hi folks,

    Just found this thread.
I have been suffering from chronic Anxiety and panic attacks for God knows how long now.
The majority of them happen at work, but some have happened in less stressful social situtations.
I have the usual symptoms, shortness of breath, sweating, difficulty speaking, etc.
They always tend to flare up if i'm in the spotlight, ie, about to do a presentation, introduce myself at meetings, talking on the phone etc.
I have tried both Hypnosis and Acupuncture without any success.
    At my wits end now.....
Any ideas, suggestions would be welcome.
