Recommend physio in Dublin city area

I've managed to mess up my knee quite badly. It was a little bit sore for a few months - I've self-diagnosed ITBS - and got a bit sorer after I went running after a long spin. I didn't run or cycle for 2 weeks and it seemed to be getting better. Then last week I went for a hike iin the Burren at the end of which I managed to twist it badly. I don't know if I compounded the previous injury, or whether it's a new one, but now it's REALLY sore. I can't really walk on it and after three days of not leaving the house it doesn't seem to be much better. It's causing me some anxiety and I want to go see someone about it. Can anyone recommend a good physio, ideally in the city centre (or better yet D7) area? Or should I see a GP first? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Aidan is a runner /triathlete is pretty no nonsense and gives you plenty of work to do on any injuries. Won't waste your time giving you loads of appointments if you're not doing the work yourself to complement the treatment.
Agreed re GP in case you've done something serious and need an X-Ray.

I've been to both Aidan on Pearse Street and the Santry Sports Clinic, and I'd recommend either.

Aidan is a nice guy, and it's nice to go to someone who knows about cycling.

SSC is a very professional set up, my only complaint is that they are not honest enough to say they are in Ballymun rather than Santry!

I 've been to several gps and physios lately.

Paul Tansey didn't help me much with his laser treatment, or actually didn't help me at all, but i would generally go back to him for back or neck issues. I went to SSC for a treatment for my shoulder, they made me an injection, worked for a couple of months and now the problem is back.
I went to Niamh in Pearse Street Physio who with the exercises and the advices almost managed to sort my knee out (we 're getting there). I would highly recommend her, or Aidan that she is working with.

Dublin 7 - Orlagh Sampson, Annamoe Tce comes highly recommended. She's a sports physio. I have an appointment to see her myself and would be able to comment with more authority after that on Monday. I was knocked off my bike by a driver who took a left turn - across my path - while deep in conversation on a mobile phone, 'never even saw him'. Almost three months ago now. I got a broken collar bone which didn't heal by itself. Had a plate put in over a month ago which resulted in intense pain. Anyhow, I'll be attempting to get the use of my fight arm back beginning Monday. It feels like a long time. I wish you the best with the knee....

Had my knee done at the SSC (cartilage), and managed the Wicklow 200 less than 3 weeks later. They have a full team of physios, but more importantly they have all the specialists you could want, as well as full diagnostic equipment. Could be costly if you don't have private medical insurance though.

Thanks for the advice everybody, I really appreciate it. I gather there's a chap called Mark Sexton who's supposed to be good as well and is v.near my house.

Re the GP, as it happens I got an eye infection and had to call a doctor out to my house (all surgeries are closed at the weekend). Dude was here for five mins and charged me 70 quid. I asked him to take a look at the knee. He literally took a look and said it was "probably fine". If I'd torn a ligament it'd be swollen sky-high. So I feel slightly better, if somewhat poorer. Looking forward to seeing physio though and getting this recurring knee sorted out once and for all.

@Convict - sorry to hear about your accident. That's awful. Let me know how you get on with Orlagh Sampson and good luck with your recovery.

I've got a bunch of physios to choose from now - great to have the recommendations. Thanks again to all. Claw.

Cannot recommend Aiden Woods highly enough.... Great guy with magic hands!

He's put me back together more times than i care to remember. The fact that he's involved in triathlon really helps in that he understands the amount of training that goes into cycling, athletics etc. His rehab programmes are always excellent and he'll push you to do the work!
