Presuming he was arrested then I don't see any prima facie defamation in the headline or indeed the article itself as it is stating a fact. Was there something in particular in the article itself?

THE troubled son of Oscar-winning actor Michael Douglas has been arrested by undercover police after allegedly dealing almost £9,000-worth of drugs at a top New York hotel.Cameron Douglas, 30, was arrested on July 28 at the Hotel Gansevoort in Manhattan.

I take it you mean defamation of the Hotels good name.\

In my opinion and scattered throughout Irish case law are cases like the the Byrne case and i wont be listing year or case number and its a rough recollection.
It was set in an irish golf club. Someone had reported an offence to the Authorities and the members assumed Byrne had reported it. So they scrawled RAT over the byrnes name on the golf club members list that was a placard on the club wall.

Byrne sued for defamation but the judge found that Byrne wasn't defamed as a citizen reporting an incident is thought highly of etc... and to be called a rat by some sub human low life would not lower his name and he would not be lowered in the eyes of right thinking members of the public.

There are many case's like this. So there would not be any case for defamation. Some people!

Look at the image "Drug Arrest for Michael Douglas ..." - the word "son" has disappeared.
