John Hughes, the American Director and Scriptwriter, has died, aged 59. He died apparently of a heart attack in New York state whilst visiting family.

This is a sad day I must say. So many of his movies were the 80s by definition. The Breakfast Club, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Wierd Science, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Pretty in Pink, Uncle Buck and of course, Home Alone. They were all movies written and directed by him.

I grew up watching all of those movies, and loving them all. I hope that he is in a better place now, and thanks John for all the great memories.

Some of his movies like Ferris Bueller and The Breakfast Club were cult classics! One thing that nearly all his films had in common was that they all centred around young people.

    RIP
