UPC's DVR remote control

hi,

we've had UPC's DVR box for few months and the remote control could always adjust the volume on the television itself and turn the TV on and off.

when install the DVR the guy even told me that I wouldn't really need the remote that came with the TV anymore.

last week the UPC remote started acting up. it would only control the TV and not the UPC box. I changed the batteries but no joy. I unplugged the UPC box and restarted. the remote control then could work with the box and not the TV.

I finally got throught to UPC today. the first girl told me I was wrong. that it never controlled the TV. I told her it did. but I had to call back later to talk to someone else who checked the "lads" and she told me the remote only works with some TV and UPC does not recommend using it to switch a TV on or off. she couldn't explain though why it suddenly stopped working with my TV.

has this happened to anybody else?

You need to program it work with you TV again, when you took the batteries out it would of lost it's setting. The manual will show you how to program it

thanks. I'll give it a try. but it stopped working properly before the batteries were removed.

one more thing though. when I called UPC about it the first girl had me enter a code so I could control the volume on box with the remote.

now I two volumes (TV and box) whereas before I had only to adjust the TV volume (the volume on the box was never used). is there anyway to undo that so I only need to adjust the TV volume?

Pull the batteries out and it should reset the remote then reprogram it for your TV again.

gave that a try but no joy.

I'll leave the batteries out overnight and try again tomorrow.

I left the batteries out over and then reprogrammed the remote.

it worked like you said.
