Wii Graphics problem

Hi. When i first got my wii, the graphics were fine, but then i didn't play it for a while but when i started again they were very blurry (and this was WITH the component cable on a samsung HDTV). I recently put the wii on a 7-year old standard defeition TV and they were much better on that than on the HDTV! Any advice?

under the settings do you have the connection type set to component?
