Because the most shameful thing you can do in Ireland is not pay your TV licence!

Got a registered letter today to appear in a District Court for not having a TV licence.
I will admit I was 100% in the wrong, it's just something I never bothered to get.
I don't have an aeriel or Sky or UPC so I can't even watch TV.

But I do have a TV for the xbox and DVD's.
Paying for RTE and I cannot even use their service unless I pay extra for an aeriel/satellite or cable..............

Do I need a solicitor for the district court?
Moving house next month but I'm not considering ingnoring the summons.
Facing a year in the Joy?

All advice appreciated and yes, I was a freeloader not paying (for a service I can't use!) before someone says it.

Go and get a tv licence today from the post office and brig it to court with you .

Put some money in the poor box and go back home

My opinion personally... if you dont use the service... you don't pay for it...

Unfortunately its not a choice... its more of a tax for having a TV...

Could you mangle the coax input for the TV and then argue that you can't receive a TV signal?
