    Hey lads,
This section is for people like me who have questions about there amp set ups
    -tube types
    -amp wattages
    -biasing
    -pedal choice
    -line selecting
    -rack gear set up
-and general whos and whats of the ever changing world of guitar amplifiers and efx

    one of my personal questions-

right i want to know if there is anyway in which i can use a preamp
(jmp-1, triaxis) through the power-amp of a head(vintage modern, mesa f50) and make use of the distortions in both the preamp and head without physically plugging **** in and out during a gig????(if the efx loop is not footswitchable of course)
Anyone else ever have this problem???

    cheers in advance,

Try an A/B switch..Guitar to A/B box input, output A going to the input of your preamp, output of the preamp to FX return of your head. Output B of the A/B box going to the input of your head.

Or a boss ab-2.... make sure to unplug it after use though.. runs on batteries only

Edit: actually no that wont work. can only select one output at a time. You want one signal going to two seperate sources simultaneously right?

There would be an awful lot of routing and switching. Because both the JMP-1 and the Vintage modern would need an input (from your guitar), but you don't want to run them at the same time. So you'd have to cut the signal to the Vintage Modern when you wanted to use the JMP-1 as the preamp, and vice versa.

Its possible, but seems like a lot of hassle.

With a midi preamp (like the JMP or Triaxis), you've got a lot of switchable tones, so its probably not worth all the hassle (and other problems, ground loops etc) just to get one or two more sound.

lol as luck would have it Voodoo i was looking into the f-50 you have for sale and am thinking of making an offer before month is out-
so i would have the messa tone on one channel and the jmp-1 and g-major in the other all goin through an orange ppc cab,
